Specs and features
Although the Honor 6 is new to Europe, the smartphone actually launched elsewhere earlier in the year and there are others in the range too including the Honor C3 and Honor Holly. For now, it's just the Honor 6 which is making its way to Europe.
The Huawei Honor 6 features a 5in Full HD screen, octa-core processor, Cat 6 4G LTE and excellent battery life. The firm touts a battery life of 2.7 days from the 3100mAh battery.

On the design side the device is 7.5 mm and 130 g. Huawei says "The dazzling 3D diamond-style texture back cover is inspired by nature. A 6-layer high-complex surface treatment is made with special composite materials."

For photographers there is a 13 Mp rear camera which uses a fourth-generation Sony sensor and has a dual-LED flash. At the front is a 5 Mp camera with a wide-angle lens and 1.4um pixel size. Huawei touts the camera as the fastest possible snapshot around at 0.6 seconds.

You can take photos without needing to switch the screen on by double tapping the volume down button and there's a focus mode which allows you to take a photo then select the area of focus afterwards.

That octa-core chip is a Kirin920 which uses four 1.7 GHz A15 cores and four 1.3 GHz A7 processors for a combination of power and efficiency. It also has a Mali-T628 GPU and 3 GB of RAM.

The Honor 6 comes with Android 4.4 KitKat and Huawei's Emotion UI 2.3.

Yup, it's out of stock as it's not officially released until tomorrow.

A couple of Y300s here, not the most amazing design, but Huawei always give bang for your buck and are the fastest growing brand

anyone experienced their GUI?

Nice find OP

First Moto X is reduced then this. After all the hassle with the OnePlus pre orders yesterday I'm wondering if I've done the right thing!

Emotion is alright, but the Y300 really flies on SlimKat, hopefully this will get a similar level of support from custom ROMs

I had the P7 for a while, Emotion UI is okay but it's a bit like iOS with widgets as there is no app drawer, it quickly becomes cluttered, I swiftly threw Nova Launcher on it and it was perfect.

Honor 6 Vs the one plus one

Apps can be installed to a external sd card instead of internal one unlimited app space as long as your card has space

Also like the one plus i think thier is no band 20 lte 800hmz so no 4g on voda and o2 only has bands 1 3 and 41 so will work on ee and three 4g network only. Also i think it says dual sim too which is a bonus. Same sony lense as one plus so if you want a more compact version of one plus this could be the phone for you

That's the Chinese one released earlier this year. I can't seem to find any clarification as to whether this one, simply known as the Honor 6 (no Huawei even though it's made by them), has full UK 4G support.

Here's a good early review:

Yep you seem to be right my bad in fact this is h60 l40 which indeed has all 4g bands in the uk and i think its only a single sim model not dual sim but nothing confirming this apart from indian reviewers saying it has a single sim not dual this version of the phone is sold in india

Well it lacks 4G if that is important to you. Also, it has 3GB RAM, 3x as much as the Moto G 2014. It seems quite future proofed, it supports Cat 6 LTE which no UK networks have really rolled out yet.

Also, the Honor screen is Full HD to the Moto G's 720p. Also, this is octa-core.

But it is £100 more than the Moto G, so probably in the next price bracket up. Compared to others at this cost like the OnePlus One (which lacks full UK 4g support) or the ageing Nexus 5 it looks good. Just waiting for reviews, but Huawei have a decent track record with build quality and if there are UI issues they can be fixed with custom launchers and/or custom ROMs

thanks for the response. i think you are right in waiting for some reviews. hopefully it will be dual sim as since I have it in my moto g I don't think I could live with out it now haha. I can't believe how cheap decent phones are becoming!

No 1080p only

Is this a Galaxy 5 competitor or a Galaxy Note competitor? Or neither?

Yes. Good phones, also had a couple.

I don't like huawei. I've had an Ascend for 5 months - complete pain, freezes very regularly, often needs reboot before I can get a signal, ALWAYS asking me to confirm data access as soon as its out of range of Wi-Fi. No updates available for it. I will go back to Samsung soon

I can't tell if that's a clerical error, as they seem to be listing the specs for the Huawei Honor rather than plain ol' Honor. I still have yet to find a full spec sheet but hopefully it has all UK 4G bands since it's being sold by Amazon UK...

I had a couple of Huawei phones, neither ever had any issues, and both are still working flawlessly after giving them to my Nephews.

Have just ordered this new one to replace my HTC One M7, which in the first year and a half -
Got a scratch on the scratch resistant screen after being in my pocket with keys for 2 minutes.
Got a common camera fault, where images in low light get a horrible Purple/Blue tinge.
The battery performance has dropped so much I barely get a day out of it with light use.
Overheats to the point I think it's going to burst into flames.
And that thing cost me in the region of £500 SIM free when I bought it...

I could say the same about my S3. The 4.3 update rollout was a joke, awful wake lag. Without custom ROMs it would have been dead. And no official KitKat from Samsung. If only they released camera sources.

The Y300s we have are fairly stable on SlimKat, and it means that annoying "Are you sure you want to connect to 3G" feature of Emotion disappears. Huawei official support is patch, but the romming community is strong as they are so popular in the Far East

I deleted my comment, it appears it supports different 4G standards, one is China only, and another is supported in the UK, however it doesn't state whether it's supported by all networks (I know some phones only support 1 or 2 UK 4G networks).

I actually don't care, as I only use 3G anyway, but others will need to look into it before buying.

Well, it's not a phablet like the Note, but specs wise it is above the S5. No removable battery, but with 3100mAh it should last a fair old while (in fact that's one of Huawei's selling points)

Great specs

Agree that the confirm data access everytime you go out of wifi range is annoying, though you can change this if you root the phone and edit the buildprop file slightly - why this isn't an option in the normal settings though I'll never know.
I have the Y300 and whilst it can get laggy at times, never had any problem with signal. Am tempted to try Slimkat on it though if anyone knows a decent build and a link.

Why can't google just release a nexus at £250 with a removable battery, memory card slot, and take over the world in doing so?

the honor 6 is dual sim.
