The Huawei Ideos is a stunning example of just how much power you can pack on a budget. Its a fully fledged Android smartphone (2.2/Froyo) that also packs a multi-touch friendly capacitive display and the latest WiFi version (n). Huawei have resisted meddling with Android, so its free from overlays, customer interfaces or clunky add ons. Its Android how Google intended, free from meddling and with full access to all the Google services and apps (including Android Market) you'd expect). All of this that's wrapped up in a phone that by rights should cost over twice as much. The Hauwei Ideos punches well above its weight, and wins.

This is supposed to be a really good phone. I was hoping it would be closer to £100. Maybe after Chrissie??

Id imagine it will be closer to £100 when networks get hold of it and rebrand it as there own devices. T-mobile pulse for example.
Trouble is i want it this side of xmas. Best price i can find, and atleast its not loaded with network bloatware.

San Francisco... cheaper, better (CPU, screen...)

cnet seem to prefer the Huawei IDEOS.

I would say that the san fran is better per £, however the orange bloatware ruins it, and from my research the custom rom's are not perfect. ie facebook wont update etc.

At least this one just works out of the box, no operator branding, latest version of android.

Personally im torn between

Huawei IDEOS
x10 mini pro
san fran
htc wildfire

Quote for the san fran

We're thrilled that the trim, powerful San Francisco Android smart phone … We're thrilled that the trim, powerful San Francisco Android smart phone only costs £99 on a pay as you go deal, but we'd be even happier if its software wasn't covered in Orange crud.Read more: http://reviews.cnet.co.uk/mobile-phones/orange-san-francisco-review-50001481/#ixzz15gL6BAnX
