£370 for a tablet? Wow, why so expensive? No UK warranty either.

I just bought the 6th Gen iPad from Ebay from £150. They also had 2017 versions for just over £100.

Crazy paying £365 for an Android tablet when most Android apps don't even scale properly on a tablet. The lack of UK warranty is a killer too for such an expensive device.

To be fair though, this is the current flagship Huawei model. Even the older M5 have specs comparable to the 2018 Ipad.

Beat me to it
Will this get Android/Google updates?

Doesn't matter. Android is a poor tablet OS. Bearable if you're spending £100 or so but £365 is just nuts especially when you have to send it back to China if it develops a fault.
I own an android tablet they're perfectly fine I have no issues why does everyone keep saying theyre crap they do the job on YouTube Netflix etc

In what way, they were certainly better when Android still had a dedicated tablet mode, but they work just fine. Not every app scales well, but to be fair on Apple it wouldn't be much better if they let you install anything you wanted and didn't enforce compatibility. If you compare major apps most work fine.

For the hardware this is a fair price.

For multimedia usage, the Huawei is so much better. It has the best Harman Kardon Quad speakers and a proper 16\10 ratio for watching films, YouTube etc.

iPad speakers are at the bottom edge. Only mono sound when you use it landscape mode.

Yea, I like my own comments too.

U need to use one of these before you start comparing it to an iPad. A couple of months back I got rid of my iPad Pro 1st gen and replaced it with the Huawei MediaPad M5 which I got from Argos for about £275.

The device is far superior to my previous iPad and I use it for both work and pleasure. A few good features you don't get on an iPad:

1) Desktop Mode - Gives it a look and feel to a Chromebook / Windows 10.
2) The ability to use a USB to HDMi cable and view on a TV or monitor, also supports Miracast streaming.
3) Supports a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse, hence using Word and Excel is way better experience than on an iPad.
4) Decent battery life and excellent sound quality from the onboard speaker.

Those considering the M6, I would recommend getting a UK spec M5, not much of a difference in performance and you get 2yrs warranty.

Also on another note, getting a device from China shouldn't be an issue, as long as you get a Global spec then the warranty will be honoured by Huawei. I have done this before on Mate 10 Pro.
I am still not convinced spending that much for an android tablet. If you really want it as a desktop mode. why not go for a laptop which will have a decent keyboard and maybe a mouse to do proper work? maybe I am just old school.
Also the price of most Huawei products is getting dearer and dearer. Probably propaganda effects but when it comes with Android thing, I might go for Xiaomi or others. Don't fool me with those fancy (sometimes useless) functions and specs. Do remember, huawei has UFS/EMMC mixture history.

Expandable storage!

Expandable storage!

That's what cloud storage is for ;-). When I had my 128Gb iPad Pro, I barely used 40Gb, now I have a 1Tb on OneDrive and upload all my pics n vids, only need a couple of Gb's for apps.

If you are always on the road and you need something light weight then this is where these tablets have a sweet spot. I do have a laptop which I use normally, but sometimes it's too big to take when you are out an about.

I agree about the pricing of Huawei items, but they not as bad as what Samsung charge for equivalent devices, I'm not one for brand names, but rather with features and build quality. I currently own a Xiaomi Mi Pro 8 and love their devices, so in future would look at one of their tablets.

I used to own a Huawei tablet. It was bland, generic and incredibly underwhelming. Bit like your Chromebook that can't run any Windows software

The iPad is simply vastly better in terms of tablet functionality, quality and crucially, tablet apps. Anyone with half a brain knows that. Nobody wants to overpay for a junk Chinese tablet like this with no Google support and which you have to send back to Guangdong everytime it breaks down.

Chromebook and Windows laptop are not comparable. Plenty of people want the benefits of CB, and knows the limitations of them. Which Huawei tablet have you owned?

How often do tablets break seriously. I owned 5 in my life and not one has broke except the iPad I owned

Correction, Google don't provide support to any tablet. All support is provided by the respective manufacturer. Also re-read my original post, I bought my Huawei tablet from Argos, which means it comes with a 2yr warranty with full UK/EU consumer protection against any faults.

Secondly Apple have also somewhat lost the plot with the iPad, it's all about iPad Pro's which makes them cost prohibitive n starts encroaching on laptop territory. Also all manufacturers have issues, including Apple:

I have been in the IT industry for over 25yrs, so I don't need to learn from some Apple Fanboy that thinks Apple invented everything, it's time you opened your horizon....

Interestingly, in your point about warranties being honoured for global versions purchased from China, Huawei UK have replied to my inquiry to say that warranties are only honoured per region so it would have to be purchased from either the UK or elsewhere in the EU.

Noted, I only based it on my previous experience where I logged a service request with an authorised Huawei repair centre and they fixed it.
