This is a fantastic phone...I use one! Totally and utterly recommended and at 405.00 it's a great deal. In terms of comparing to more recent phones it it is right up there with them. Be quick though as I'm sure they'll go super fast.
Honestly, good price for new, but I'd rather buy from here saving £100, that's just personal choice, and some prefer new

On contract with three. £39 for 100GB & other unlmtd.
Great phone had mine a month now... bought from very when £399😁
I know things move forward quickly on phones but i've had this phone for a year after losing my S7 in tenerife last year. It is by far the best phone i've owned (usually samsung flagship models). Great camera, fast response, good storage, charging is extremely quick (10 mins will give 20 to 30% if battery is really low) and the battery life is excellent, I easily get a full days use and im afraid im one of these people that constantly has his phone out. If the phones not in use, the battery barely shifts.

TL;DR if you dont mind having last years model, get one.
Can I ask someone more knowledgeable how this compares to the Samsung A90 on the other thread?

Go with this.
how do u know if this has not got the green screen problem
I found the camera to be pretty bad with moving objects and the front camera is the worst I’d seen for years otherwise a really good phone and very versatile if you’re not looking to take selfies or pics of your mental dog or kids landscapes etc it was very good and the notch soon disappears

just make sure you get the right screen protector so you don’t remove the under display fingerprint scanner function

I've never used the 20x 5g.

20X 5G is worse than the normal 20X other than the inclusion of 5G IMHO.

No headphone jack, and a smaller battery iirc

Would agree on this, although I would extend it to all Huaweis: no idea what was going on with the reviewers back then but I can’t help but feel Huawei’s generosity had some impact on their ratings:

Poor at capturing non-static subjects

Subjects often severely bleached out

Subjects often have a ‘grungy’ brown or yellow tone and colours can be completely off; colours in areas such as eyes completely lost.

I’ve noticed this across the Mate 20 Pro, P30 Pro and P30 (which I now own).

Other than that I can’t fault the build quality and battery life on Huaweis - compared with the S10 my P30 absolutely kills it for battery reliability.

The smaller battery is the main issue, but it’s also a hell of a lot more expensive so it’s not even as if there’s price parity to cushion the blow.
Absolutely recommend this phone for the money and this retailer too. This is where I got mine from and arrived within a few days of ordering.

Thank you both for this useful information. I'm looking for an entry level to mid-range phone that would be good for taking short (under 3 mins) videos - can you suggest any?
This one or P30 pro for extra 60 quid..?

You have to play around with the settings in the camera and when you get it right the camera really is awesome

Having owned the P30 Pro since April I would be inclined to disagree; although that's not to say I haven't taken nice photos on it.

Irrespective of this, I don't think you should have to tweak settings to take good photos of your kids or whatnot - this should be the bread and butter of a modern smartphone

I've had the Mate 20 Pro for a few months, replaced my Lenovo P2. Both UKHotDeals buys, the former through O2 Refresh.

Love the phone as it's fast, takes great photos and battery life is superb too. Also receive updates, unlike with the Lenovo which was practically zero.

I have no need the latest, so don't mind having a generation older device. I'd rather spend the money saved on other items.

Mine is amazing. Camera is phenomenal and not a single screen protector I've tried has stopped the fingerprint scanner from working.

Must admit only annoying thing on mine is the fingerprint scanner it's useless especially with a screen protector on. But the face Id works really well so got over it. What screen protector are you using for yours to work?

I use Newzerol soft screen protectors as I can't find any tempered protectors that actually fit properly. To be fair they're great. They also don't bubble as long as you fit as per the instructions (if they do the bubbles disappear after a day or two).
