What's the point with no play store???

They have to start somewhere. If they don't get it out there, then there's no way of knowing if users will give them a chance

Its a chance I took, what can I say

Brilliant phone but way too pricy thanks @MrSwitch
Such a shame about the ban, Huawei have been on fire the last few years. The usual's finally had some stiff competition, which is always good for us consumers.
When you cant compete, Just "Ban 'em...."

The TRUMP method of business bullying.

So sad as Huawei make amazing phones!

How much is the phone by itself? Thanks
Not for me but worth posting, thx
Decent price and spec but feeling a bit annoyed with the whole way android is going , currently using a P30 pro and tempted to move to IOS

Yup! £149 watch, £119 buds, makes the phone less than the S20.

I have a horrible feeling that we are not moving closer to more devices using the same OS but forcing more companies to implement their own versions all with their own quirks.

Really tempted to move to something like an iPhone XS Max as this would be supported for another few years where if you buy a £1100 S20 ultra you might get updates for 3 years of lucky and paying through the nose for it

I don't see why this is cold considering you can just install the play store and all the other Google apps.
Would this phone work with any other smartwatch as if you went down the official route how would you install things like fitbit and Samsung apps ?
Pricey but an attractive bundle. Would side loading Google Play be possible ?
Wouldn't mind the flat screen version mate 30 at decent price with headphone jack.

I've read and seen it's possible, YouTube tutorials.
Stunner of a handset, the free extras are worth about 200 quid on fleabay if you are fast.. this is the better spec 8/256gb but 4G not 5G - if that matters - so total outlay could be £700... thats about its money but its a UK handset and not a grey import with the chinese bloatware - and theres a lot on the imports - to deal with...
Google services can be sideloaded however if you do you cannot use google/aple pay as the device isnt registered as playsafe/applesafe - however if you can forgive these small issues this handset rocks.. the display is amazing, its fast as hell, build quality is stunning, materials are top tip end...i wasnt aware it was going to be released for this market but im glad it has been, such a lovely handset thats been effectively hobbled by Big T....pity cos its a world beater, HEATY!!!!!

Google have done something to prevent this.

I would imagine you would have to use 3rd party sites to sideload APK files but God knows how secure they would be and also not sure how banking apps would work on this

Yes
Nearly bought this last night as the phone is quality but think if it was priced around the £700 mark it would be worthwhile as the watch and headphones are decent but would rather pay less for the phone than get these extras as it's just hassle trying to sell them on eBay to get around £200 so I'll wait and maybe see if can get the phone a lot cheaper on eBay or stick with my original idea of getting the Samsung S20 ultra with the free buds
holding off for a p30 pro until a realistic price appears, not interested in 'free' stuff that isn't needed, sticking with my p20 pro for now which I must say is an amazing phone

Amazing phone, but the no google services kills it for me.

errr, yes you can mate, been done a million times - done it myself, plenty of tutorials online for it, only issue i found was google pay/ apple pay wont work, everything else was fine and google security scans marked this handset as secure every time i ran it, i had no issues with it at all
RaiKush21/02/2020 10:47

Okay, please elaborate

he's a little mis informed mate, it can be done, done it myself, its easy enough and im a bit thick TBF

No one is thick haha, we all have different abilities. The phone looks nice, but the price is a bit prohibitive. I will wait for a price drop
Heat from me. Superb phone but lack of Google services should drive this price down if you don't mind waiting.

Holding off upgrading my Mate 20 Pro for now!

I've had the P30 Pro for a few months. Would you mind telling me what you're not liking about it's Android implementation? Either you'll upset me, or I might be able to help out
My only problem would be the security around Huawei. Would banking apps etc be available on Huawei store?

Hi mate , nothing wrong with Huawei just a bit annoyed with Android in general. Been using since android 1.6 on my HTC Hero.

Finding that across the different manufacturers they all have flaws and think it might be time to possibly move to IOS for a bit and maybe revisit in a year or so when hopefully the pixel 5 with a reasonable battery comes out.

OnePlus has the best software/hardware implementation as far as it comes to Android IMHO, not far off the Pixel experience anyway.

I think it's pretty good idea of you want to get rid of Google from your phone but than how much you trust Chinese. There is no win for privacy centrics unfortunately.

How would you go about installing your own OS if this has a locked bootloader ?

Regards

Didn't they reopen that when the debacle started?
