Hey all, I'm looking to get this and it seems a very good deal. I checked the phone out today and it's absolutely beautiful. Do not be put off by 1080 screen it is very sharp, I compared to iPhone 7plus. It was also brighter and colours stood out more. Overall it was just a great experience, 7 more days to my upgrade and I'm going for it.

On PAYG it's very reasonable at £549 compared to iPhone at £820, contact wise it's around £100 cheaper upfront and £13 cheaper per month than iPhone.

What about the xiaomi Mi mix

I just bought my partner a p9 lite... Excellent phone...

It is reasonable (ish) now but in a few months will be worth very little, as with most Huawei phones. They don't hold their value.

Personally wouldn't spend over £500 on a Huawei as (if my P9 is anything to go by) the cameras are slow and don't output in particularly great quality (though some people really rate them).

If it were me I'd rather get an S7 Edge for the same sort of money as this, or wait and pay a bit more to get an S8. EMUI is a really annoying skin for me, with it's imposing power management and little glitches like having no playback controls on the lock screen for podcast apps.

...and yes I've used the EMUI 5.0 beta

Haha, you got a right bargain mate...NOT!

p.s. don't forget to remove your gloves, sign in to your phone, then put them on again

p.p.s. hope you can read my reply clear enough with your 401ppi screen, it looks lovely on my 564 ppi HTC 10 (£360 brand new). Anyway, it's been on for nearly two days now, and my battery is down to 28%, better think about charging it tonight

They are great phones and I've been looking at the Mate 9, but afraid it has to be a little less for me and also slightly put off by the HD screen (especially that I will occasionally be using it for VR).

So neither hot or cold from me.

Oh yeah forgot

"Revolutionary photography"? Haha. Somehow I don't think there'll be anything on here that'll set the world alight. It's a smartphone, not a camera

If you dont mind longer shipping times the chinese version is cheaper on aliexpress

No mate should charge you this

I like this phone. Nice price compared to other sources you can buy and full UK warranty. My only complaint is the FHD screen on 5.9 inches. According to on of my fav trusted site's review, Androidauthority
androidauthority.com/hua…19/
youtube.com/wat…Gj8
"With all things considered, the Mate 9 is probably the best big-screen Android smartphone you can buy right now."

Plus £90 Quidco if you buy it on contract.

Do not. I repeat, do not purchase the Chinese version.

Good price for a UK sourced phone however, it is 3 months too late and should have come to the UK in September when it was launched. In another 6 weeks the Galaxy S8 will be launched, worth waiting for in my opinion.

It wasn't announced in September. It was officially launched at the beginning of November. Get your facts straight.

1080p screen is fine for a 6”ish screen. Goodness no one complained when. 1080p TVs came out anywhere from 14" to 50" TVs. Better to have better battery life with a 1080p screen than less battery life with a QHD screen.

Agreed. It's a decent enough display. Unless you plan on using it for VR, you won't be bothered about the battery sucking 2k resolution. And the camera is just fine on the Mate 9, though not quite up to the S7 Edge's level. Battery life is amazing though, get 2 days worth of heavy use out of it.

Big deal, still 2 months too late, snooze you lose

I've been looking at this deal, can you simply buy it for £549 (plus obligatory £10 top-up), then put any sim in it? I know Three phones are unlocked but will there be any Three software/apps on it?
CPW has it sim-free for £579. Do you think they'd price match???

Can buy outright, it may have the splash screen, however when I checked it out in store there was no splash screen and deffo no Three apps. Three also have a sim only deal £12 for 12GB

It's a good phone which I own but nothing special. It's not worth 550 nor is iPhone worth 720. In comparison value for money but in a few months It will be worth 400. Camera is ok and speakers loud enough but not as loud as it as Iphone 7 plus nor as crisp. Build quality doesn't feel premium even though it's aluminium. Hold Htc 10 and this you will notice the difference.

Why not?

I hope this doesn't sell well at its present price, so they're forced to reduce the it - £400-450 would be a much fairer price.

I've had the predisessor, the mate 8 about a year now, it's an absolute awesome phone. There is nothing significantly better at the moment. Runs very cool and super fast a year on. It basically comes down to if you want a big screen or not. If you do loads on your phone this the mate 9 is a no brainier.

superb camera in all conditions, the battery life on these phones is about 8-9 hours screen on time browsing etc and more if just watching videos over a couple of days on a single charge.

you should of bought the porche version at £1200!!

Tell you what i would have if screen was larger 6" and didn't have that awful Porsche at the front. Not worth price tag with the current specs

One plus 3T is cheaper and better.

Had this for a couple of days but returned to store due to the fact the actual size of screen used after you account for the home and back bar is only 5.5inch!.The main selling point of the mate series was size.Gone from 6.3 inch ,6 inch and now smaller screen view than the note 5!! Roll on a genuine big screen
