Surprisingly, my 6 yr old 15" laptop has a numeric keypad and a backlit keyboard. In the quest for affordability, too many features getting cut out these days.
Portability will be useful if you ever find yourself in a Hollywood situation here you are wrongly accused by the Fed and find yourself on the run from the FBI, NCIS, the Mob, butt-loving aliens and daytime TV presenters. That extra bit of juice will allow you to hack the baddies' database, order from Amazon and book a celebration meal at your favourite fast food joint.

Imagine how frustrated you will be if your battery fizzles out 60 seconds before the deal goes down.

nice offer with freebuds 3. Love it
Keyboard is tiny, look at all that wasted space... Might not be the best for larger handed humans.

Pretty sure it's normal-sized and just looks "tiny" because it doesn't have the number pad that a lot of 15" laptops have.
Why is this v£50 less than the d14? :/

cuz 14 inch got 512GB, this 15.6 inch is 256GB

Smaller hard drive, no backlit keyboard, less battery life. I believe 14" devices have higher value placed on them too due to them being perceived as the "sweet spot" for portability.

It is a shame on the 15" that they didn't use the extra space for additional keys e.g. a numeric keypad

It annoys me that these ultrabooks nave less and less external connections. Why can't they have an ethernet connection. Why only one USB3? So you always have to remeber to carry a dongle! Caught me out several times when going abroad

Good price buddy
Can you upgrade the RAM coz Vega will use about 2GB out of the 8GB RAM and laptop will not be good enough with 6GB left!!!

no you cant
Cancelled my order for the 14 inch. I don’t need the portability or extra storage. Would prefer £50 in my back pocket and a larger screen. Thanks for posting!!!
Oh great, now I'm questioning why I have taken the 14, is the backlit keyboard and larger HD worth it...?

Battery life however probably is...

I think it depends on how much you value portability

it's a more expensive asus vivobook 15, which is about 100 gbp less (of course it doesn't come with the excellent headphones)
Here's what I'm talking about:

If you look at any review then you will see it is normal size although no numberpad and its not backlit.
Pretty good deal and there are some reviews now.
Note you can get easy access to internal sata and nvme M2 slot.

It is 8gb fixed ram non upgradeable.
Battery lifer is only 4hrs.

Good value though.
My Intel i7 matebook 13 gets seriously hot. Think battery worse as only passive cooling and trying undervolting to see if that helps. Anyone else similar experience with matebook or is amd cooler?
Picked up last years model for 399 last year and it was a great buy.
599 is probably 99 pounds too much for this years model I think.

Yes ,the screen is superb.
IPS is a minimum for me nowadays.
People are saying this model has no back-lit keyboard, but the Argos listing says it does.
Is Argos wrong, or?

Hi unfortunately Argos are wrong in that case.

Its actually difficult to confirm which model has the backlit keyboard (or not!) even the specs in Huawei's website don't list it for either the 14 or 15 model. It's only ever mentioned in "blurb" it would seem.

Looking in the manual though we see it confirmed by the function key below.

Hope this helps!
Matebook D 15 have not backlit keyboard and matebook d 14 have.
