Its been a while since i've had hands-on with a HP of this price range, however a couple of years ago they were very plasticky and felt like cheap laptops to be endured. The Huawei's on the other hand feel like more expensive laptops in use, particularly in terms of chasis build and keyboard.

Just be aware that Argos are funny about laptop returns. Basically if you've opened the box and the laptop isn't faulty, they refuse a return (there are many threads online about this.) I found this out when I bought a cheap HP laptop that had an absolutely terrible screen. You can quote a load of consumer regulations at them but it's just the aggro I could have done without.

So when buying from Argos, if at all possible check one of these out in person beforehand to make sure you're happy with the screen/keyboard/build quality etc.

This doesn't surprise me. They gave me an open box Garmin watch once, even though I ordered it new from their website. The seal was broken and it had makeup on the watch itself it so it had obviously been used and returned. They told me there was nothing wrong with it and that they could only return if faulty, so I had to argue that they shouldn't be selling me used products as new. Eventually I got a new one like I ordered.

How does the AMD fare in regards to possible overheating 'issues', in relation to it's Intel counterpart, or whatever?

Picked up the 4500/256GB version of this last year for £450.

Fantastic build quality, looks far more expensive than it is, boots in seconds, fast performance, nice big screen with minimal border, GPU is far better than the equivalent Intel.

Would have liked a numberpad, keys are a bit clicky, webcam focuses on your chin, would have liked more USB3/C ports instead of USB2. But for £400 you have to compromise somewhere.

As far as I'm aware, you can't. But what you can is to add extra storage. The reason this has a smaller battery than D14, despite the fact the screen is bigger on this, is because you have room to add more storage .

If this is the same laptop as the HUAWEI MateBook D15 AMD 2021 (I assume it is) then it has the higher capacity 56Wh battery as the D14. The MateBook i5 Intel D15 2021 has the lower capacity 42Wh battery. (edited)

And I've ruled it out due to battery size and lack of backlit keyboard. If the battery is bigger, should I assume there is no space for extra storage, thanks?

Hi sorry can't confirm that but you would be able to upgrade the NVMe drive. The Intel D15 version does take additional storage.

No, the i5 is better at single core but ryzen better at multi core. Single core matters most for gaming so since you probably won't be doing much intensive gaming I'd say the ryzen is better and it has more cores.

Huawei website says 56Wh for the AMD 2021 (with 42Wh for the i5 version). Argos Q&A advised 42Wh and Amazon also list 42Wh.

I spoke with two agents on Huawei live chat today and both confirmed that model number BohrM-WDQ9B has the 56Wh battery. Assuming Argos are have got the correct model number on their listing, then it should have the 56Wh battery.

If anyone here has bought it, the model number should be on the side of the box.

Just got this laptop, boots quickly, good chasis, nice screen. The keyboard does feel a little cheap, but at this pricepoint you can't expect the world. Nice touch with the fingerprint scanner too.

The reviews I've seen say this is a decent IPS display. Obviously not best-in-class, but not terrible either. For £399.99, this is a helluva great deal. Also, if you own other Huawei devices, there's seamless integration with the laptops (ala Apple).

This review site claims: "The 56 Wh battery delivers good battery life. In our Wi-Fi test at 150 cd/m² (corresponds to 72% of the test device's maximum brightness), it almost lasts 9 hours, and at maximum brightness, it still lasts 7:30 hours, which surpasses almost every comparison device as well. A complete charging process takes about 2 hours when the device is turned on.

Does anybody know, for the intention of dropping in a larger NVMe, the Intel SHOULD be PCIe 4.0, the AMD is only PCIe 3.0. Does this laptop implement the 4.0, so can I drop in a higher speed SSD please?
