Thanks for posting OP.
I'd still rather go with the MS surface laptop deals posted on here. Smaller SSD but can be compensated by using cloud or usb drive for on device storage.
Overall prefer the build quality and price point over the additional SSD capacity.
Never bought Hauwei before. What’s the difference explains the price diff with the matebook d14 which is £550? Touch screen. Ryzen proc, 14” v 13” screen all for £300 diff? Am I missing something ?

I know this is the high end system with Thunderbolt 3. I have no experience of using that port. Is it really a big enough deal to go for this machine over the Matebook 13/14 just for this port? I understand you can add external graphics cards and have other support with it but I dont game

Depends what you do. You can hook up external SSDs too, or 10Gb ethernet. With USB you can get 5Gb ethernet (I don't know of 10Gb USB3.2x2 Gen 2 adapters). But if you don't game and have no requirement for superfast external storage or networking, then there's no real benefit.
Not seen this version, but the 2020 version of the Matebook X Pro is a lovely machine, solid build quality and lightening fast - with a very sharp screen. That's also it's Achilles Heel in my opinion, as it has no pen support, despite being touchscreen.

As @DrDoolitle states above, I too prefer the MS Surface form factor, particularly the Surface Book - not as sleek or thin as the Matebook, but solid build quality and responsive screen.
FWIW.
It's a truly awful spec in terms of the CPU in particular for this price. I know your paying for build quality and screen resolution but still...
Good price but I can't be buying a laptop without extended warranty. 3 years preferable.
Love my mate book x pro
Huawei, make some utterly fab products!
Dont be biased and try Huawei products!

Personally
My Mate 20 Pro is so much better than my Samsung Note 9
My Huawei Matebook X Pro is far superior than my Dell Laptop and Apple Macbook
Is this any good with a stylus?
I'm looking for a new laptop to work from home. I need dual monitor output so I have to rule out the Matebook 13 and Im looking at either the new Matebook 14 or this X Pro.

Can someone please give me some advice on which of the two is better?

They're both £749 but the Pro has 512GB SSD and the 14 is only 256GB.

The 14 also has the 4600H chipset which is probably 2-3x more powerful than the 8265U.

I'm not sure if I need all that power. I mainly use the internet and Office apps. I currently have the Lenovo Yoga 900 ultrabook and I love its thin form factor and amazing screen. I think the Matebook 14 and X Pro probably have a similarly amazing screen and build quality. This pro is 2yrs older than the new Matebook 14.

The X Pro also has thunderbolt 3 which will really help to future proof it.

Alternatively I could get the Matebook 14 Ryzen 7 edition with its 16GB ram and 512GB hard drive but that's £1000 and I'm not so keen on spending that kind of money.

I'd be keen to hear as many opinions as possible from owners of either machine.

I have the 2018 Pro i5 that I got for a similar price to now (open box) and use it as an occasional personal/home laptop for browsing/office like your intended use (Have a Dell Lattitude for work that gets a daily drubbing).

I find it perfectly fine for these activities, no spinning wheels/slow ups.
There are some reviews of the 2018 Pro i7 that say the thermal performance is not great and that extra power is throttled back and/or goes up in heat!
Over the Dell, the 3:2 ratio screen is actually quite useful and is incredibly bright/clear.Touch screen is great too especially moving around sites/zooming/sharing with someone else (they can easily manipulate it).
Build quality is very good and easily classified as premium, great keyboard too.
Fingerprint log in is fast (as is the boot time) and reliable.
The Huawei works perfectly fine from my dell WD15 docking station so I get to swap/use the desktop very simply/easily.

If you do lots of Zoom/Skype then make sure the camera is OK for you, it's in the keyboard.

Keep fingers crossed, I was tempted by the last offer for the basic 14"/13" last month and didn't do it. Hopefully this one is better and also touchscreen which she's used too.

Along with her phone, should work well together

Arrived and up and running. A nice piece of kit indeed. I am jealous of the wife now....
I am loving the screen. I loved my old Lenovo Yoga 900 ultra-book however it has monster 66% screen to body ratio bezels all around. The Matebook has a much smaller footprint, an even bigger screen at 91% screen to body ratio. Im amazed how dated my old workhorse looks in comparison. The fingerprint power button is a very neat feature. The CPU is 3x faster, the SSD is 5x faster however I don't actually notice these improvements in my day to day use because my old system never felt slow in the first place. For my purposes this machine does everything as fast as I need hence why its always worth considering lower spec/last gen models when buying a new laptop because as in my case they may be more than fast enough and you often get much better bang for buck. I could have spent double on the 2020 model but wouldn't have noticed any real performance improvement. Where the Matebook really shines is in the build quality, the keyboard, the track-pad, screen and speakers - all the parts you actually interact with and truly matter. I think this is the best quality and value Windows laptop out there for under £750 delivered.
