Tempted, does anyone know the UK release date of the M6?

Technically 8.4" - but size isn't everything.

Better processor than the 10" though.
8" LTE £185 delivered from BT.
This would be the perfect tablet if they'd only unlock the bootloader so you could install different ROMs. Until then, I'm sticking with my Mi Pad 4.

For most people though, that's not an issue, so heat added!
Get £8 credit if you top up £80 worth of Amazon credit at once, they have some cases for £10 with Prime delivery.

According to GSMarena they are the same?
Very snappy tablet but the Kirin 960 is starting to feel it's age when playing games or from my recent experience, doesn't buffer as smoothly when wirelessly streaming HD content to the smart TV.

The M6 comes with the newer Kirin 980 which I'm really want to get my hands on.

But not according to Huawei - see consumer.huawei.com/uk/…cs/

Huawei MediaPad M5 (10.8”): HiSilicon Kirin 960s, Octa-core; 4×A73 (2.1 GHz) + 4×A53 (1.8 GHz)

Huawei MediaPad M5 (8.4”): HiSilicon Kirin 960, Octa-core; 4×A73 (2.4 GHz) + 4×A53 (1.8 GHz)

The 10" has slower A73 cores.

I'd probaby say it's a typo. If you think about it, the 10" should have the faster cores as it has more room for cooliing.

I'm sure it's not a typo - I vaguely remember reading about it when I bought the 8" last year on Prime Day.

Right, it's the not the size of the boat but the motion of the ocean.
Would this tablet be a good replacement for an old Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 (GT-N8013)? I want to give my SO an upgrade as Samsung is really struggling nowadays even with the simplest match-3 games.

Yes, certainly a nice upgrade. No headphone jack though without a dongle.
I bought it on the last prime day for 220 which was a steal back then, this tab is one of the last good tablets that will stand the test of time

The 10.8 is £210 @ BT Shop posted on HUKD.

Alternatively if you prefer the 10.8 size.

There the same. Might just be clocked differently but there identical specs
alg16/07/2019 18:22

Nope - 960s on the 10", 960 on the 8.4" - the core speeds are different.

Think you will find they have the same specs

The discussion on xda disagrees. Clock speed is slower on the s, but it has npu support.
Just set at different clock speeds. Doesn't mean one is slower

As I said there the same specs. The 10 inch has a lower maximum clock speed. But it won't make a difference in performance between the 2. Maybe to stop over heating

Lol agree but it helps!!!!
Is this the LTE or wifi version?

So one's not slower, it just runs at a different speed? OK....

It doesn't run at a different speed. The max speed is a bit lower. The cpu is rarely or never going to go that high
And of course, they're identical as one has NPU support and the other doesn't.

How do you know the CPU won't get that high? How do you know what I'll use it for?

You're effectively saying Usain Bolt isn't faster than me because most days we'll walk.
