One of the best Android tablets out there still. It's been cheaper, but only once, as far as I can tell.
Comes with a 2560x1600 8.4" screen, Kirin 960 processor, 4GB of RAM and 32GB in-built storage.

Full specifications: gsmarena.com/hua…php
Bear in mind that the above page lists the processor as a 960s, I believe the unit actually has the faster 960.

Just be aware this tablet doesn't have a headphone jack. Dealbreaker for some.

Good deal, although got mine back in Sept '18 and the fact this is still one of the best Android tablets available for the same price it was then says a lot about the state of the Android tablet market
I own this tablet, the specs, screen and audio are great but...it’s Huawei.
Forgive me I am not a tech head so explanations may be a bit rough. Their use of SD card protocols has been restricted, this means you will be unable to transfer apps to the sd card (there are work arounds available). You can, however, save docs, vids, pics etc to the card. In practical terms you can’t put the Netflix app on the sd card but you can download films/seasons to it.
To sum up If you are not going to d/l loads of apps this is a great tablet for the price. If you rely on external memory avoid it.

I paid £215 in July last year (Prime Day?) and I agree - it's depressing that there are not many decent Android tablets at this price range, unless you want to pay Apple pricing.

The SD card stuff is nothing to do with the current Huawei/US issue - however, it is still getting pretty much monthly security updates. But definitely question marks over how many more updates there will be, given that it's coming up to 2 years since it's original release.

Okay thanks I’ll change my comment. Is there any possibility of the sd card issue changing in the future?

If they are like Samsung I doubt it. I would imagine the decision is a conscious one to maintain performance. They don't want hassle from people saying that the tablet is really slow as they're trying to run apps from cheap and nasty slow sd cards.

Sky Go works perfectly on the technically identical 10.8" version, just tried it to be certain, so probably put that down to user error and the other 'issues' are Android issues as stated by @FubarKid

This is still getting regular system updates too which is a major plus over most of the market.

If you really want to be picky you could say you can't remove some of the Huawei apps but you can use the usual suspects instead with no issue.

Oh, why won't it run Sky Go? I was thinking of upgrading my T3 to this, to benefit from the better specs but would need Sky Go to work as it does on the T3.

Well, you're right, it does raise the question as to why they are so stingy on built in storage! However my other half's phone turned to crap and that turned out to be a failing SD card, of course the phone got the blame to begin with!

Hmmm I googled it and it’s seems a lot of people are stuck in a log in loop with 8.4”, probably should’ve gone forcthe bigger one then
I have this gorgeous tablet and the only thing that annoys me is the drop in connection speed when using bluetooth. So game streaming via moonlight is not really possible while using a bluetooth controller.

There's discussion about this on XDA - someone said that it was sorted with the most recent update (came out last week or so) - and others say turning on GPS helped. I tend not to use Bluetooth much on it, so can't say if it's true (or that it matters) for me.

Yeah its a partly valid excuse, but there is no reason why the Android OS cannot manage data in a more clever way so that just the PlayStore downloaded data goes onto the external card, while all the OS and save games and user info goes on internal storage. Then just include some kind of SD card utility which will detect if the card is faulty and just tell the user to replace it.
I have the M5 8.4 and Sky Go works perfectly. Netflix also.

In that case apologies for the 'user error' comment. Really shouldn't make any difference between sizes so very strange.

I did only download Sky Go this morning to check and it went straight in. Just noticed app was updated a couple of days ago so maybe worth doing a full uninstall, ie clear cache and storage first, and try it again.

Reckon there's any chance they'll also discount the 10" version if they haven't already?

This is what I'm hoping for.
The M5 10inch (not the M5 Lite), was £299 last week, but yesterday jumped back to £349.
Im hoping it's temporary and will drop down to its lowest ever price of £249.

Bought the M5 Lite just incase and will return it if I can nab the normal M5 for a decent price.
Also waiting for a drop on the 10" M5, ideally not the lite version but if the price is right I'll bite!

Got my eye on the Sammy S5e too.

Keep 'em peeled folks!

That's excellent, will give it a try again later. I think the issue is the network card runs both the bluetooth as well as the wifi so using at the same time impacts on the link speed. Hopefully they've fixed the problem.

Good specs but I always find Huawei/Honor phones and tablets quirky and there's always at least one issue that drives me nuts. I have an Honor 10 Lite phone and it's mostly good but there are a couple of thing's that make me want to sell it and go back to Samsung.

Any suggestion how to link it up with a wired headset?

You have to have a set of USB-C headphones or use the dongle. What annoys me about this setup is the inability to charge whilst using headphones. If they insist on killing the 3.5mm jack, at least include a second USB-C port.

Ignore. Just realised at the bottom of the page that they supply a USB-c to 3.5mm adapter.

You say that - but the battery life on the device is pretty good, so it shouldn't be too drastic. And spare dongles aren't too expensive.
Again, on XDA, there was a discussion about dongles that allowed charging and listening at the same time, but be careful if you buy one, as apparently some of the cheaper ones route power the wrong way iirc.

I also bought Mediapad M5 10" for parents. Has excellent speakers, but for me was too big. I'm sure price will go down, if not now then before Christmas.
