Bought this yesterday for my Son's Birthday, had mostly 5 star reviews everywhere I've looked. Noticed this morning its now down to £139.99.

Guess who will returning and re-buying.

Cheapest I've seen for being in UK. I know this was available on Amazon France or Germany the other week but this is for those that missed it.

Can you please give more details on why you think the MediaPad is better than the Fire HD 10 (do you have the new model that was released a couple of months ago)? From what I can piece together from reviews, it looks like the Fire HD has a faster processor/gfx, but I'm concerned about only having 2GB RAM. The Mediapad has 3GB RAM.Obviously there is the difference of Fire OS vs normal Android, though I understand that it's not so hard to get the Play Store and Nova launcher on the Fire tablet... any one with experience that they can share here?

Sure... I haven't had a play on a new updated fire 10, so I'm basing it off the previous gen which my 4 year old has.

The Mediapad feels less like a cheap tablet, it's thinner and it's made from better material. Despite having the same resolution, the screen also seems better and brighter. I paid £120 and at the time the Fire HD 10 was either same cost or greater.

The Mediapad runs proper android os (with Huawei overlay) whereas the Fire runs Fire OS. You are correct it's a bit of a faff to load on playstore etc but easily doable and with that you can install anything from play store. What you can't seem to do is use anything installed from play store in the kids section, anything you want to allow in the kids section has to come from the Amazon app store, so this is quite a bit more restricted if you plan to make use of it. There are apps/games that my lad wanted which were available via Google Play Store, but not the Amazon one, so I couldn't make these available to his kids profile.

The kids section on the fire is very good, and has a bunch of pre loaded content age appropriate to the profile you set up. In terms of content I would say it beats the Mediapad as that just has any app you allow, but the Mediapad is very simple and easy in terms of configuring what apps are available to the kids section and what times they can use it for, how long for etc. Only 1 kids profile on Mediapad which won't be an issue for most, but if intended to be shared across multiple kids of different ages, the fire handles this better.

The Mediapad also feels much snappier in 32GB/3GB form than the Fire HD 10 and I can't say for sure as I haven't tried the latest one, but I don't think the CPU update will fully address that. 3GB is still the necessary minimum amount for an android tablet I would say.

Overall the Mediapad feels far closer to my Samsung Tab S5e in terms of being a proper decent tablet, whereas the Fire HD 10 feels more like a cheap, compromised one but one that works well for my young child. The T5 feels like more tablet for the same money, but I think there have been some price drops on the Fire 10 recently.

good buy, yes they are very good! heat added!
Same price at Amazon
Hmmm... Not as low as I'd hoped but I have a pile of Argos vouchers saved specifically for this so not too bad.
This or fire HD 10?

This or fire HD 10?

That's exactly what I'm looking to know. I know this has playstore built in but fire HD doesn't but its easy to put on wondering if this is worth me paying £45 more. I'll only use it for general use and watching some videos.
Are these now getting the Android updates again, thks
Voted hot as its a good tablet, but this was round this price at the end of last month and went up to £170 everywhere. Seems it was increased across all retailers to bring it back down for Black Friday

That aside... definitely better than a Fire HD 10 (have both for kids).

What android version these running?
I just don't get why a newish device would ship with a year old version of operating system. Even if it auto-updates to Pie, you will probably only ever get a single update. It should ship with Pie and update to the next version of Android later.
Need some advice please.

I currently have an ipad air 2 which i only use on my exercise bike for zwift. I also have an awful amazon fire kids 8". I'm looking to replace both with this....is it up to the job?

Does the 32gb have more ram than the 16gb version?

Does it not update to 9.0? Huawei have announced that the T5 will get Android 9, but that announcement was back in April, so I would expect to see something by now.

As a company, I think they are generally good at pushing out updates... my Honor 9 phone has had more updates than I can keep track of, typically getting the Android monthly security update.

This is the model to get. The 16GB variant isn't great, unless it is sold at a very low price. Just bear in mind, there is no cheap way to root these. Boot Unlock codes have to be expensively purchased from 3rd parties, because Huawei, in their wisdom, do not provide them

Minimum storage should be 32GB for any Android device. No discussion on this one!

I didn't think it was possible to unlock the bootloader at all for Huawei and Honor devices now. I would be very hesitant about handing money over to a third party!

did the code deduct the £50 straightaway for you? then you can just pay the £89.99? do they click and collect at post offices any where? i have read so many dodgy reviews on them, including withdrawing the code discount after purchase and charging you the full price, then they don't answer enquiries.
It took £89.99 off my credit account which I paid off after the order went through
