Boils down to personal preference I'd say, sonys more stock ui vs EMUI, compact Sony vs big screen in this. Kirin 980 vs Snapdragon 855. The Sony possibly takes better pictures

Agreed. This was £260 up until recently, seems cex have had reductions across the board, only good for us
Great price for this phone. No OIS on the camera though :-(
Personally, I'd rather have the Huawei P20 Pro (also EE grade A) for £200.

Another good price. As a performance point of view, my preference would be this (Kirin 970> 980)

The Xperia 5 has a telephoto which I think is more useful for most than macro or ultra wide angle, if it takes decent photos that is.
jazzuk77712/01/2020 14:51

Was it the L then?

...Or maybe the Galaxy Ace with a stonking 3kb of free storage space?

Didn't like the Ace, Samsung have made some poor phones over the years

Their budget phones have been ball achingly poor until fairly recently. And many of their mid range phones too.

Agree, the whole J series can be forgotten. The A series before recent offering was woeful too.

I have a DSLR... well an omd m43 anyway, but most of the time I don't have that on me. I use my phone a lot.

Ah I see. Difference of opinion. So this or the Xperia for me, what do you think? Is this phone fast and all?

It uses the Kirin 980 which is currently in my mate 20 x, which is fast, fluid and smooth with anything you throw at it. Having said that, my note 10 plus with th 855 in it is just as fast fluid and smooth

Both will be fast. Both have pretty up to date top end processors.

Given Sony's recent very good record with updates, Huawei's Google woes (and I confess to not being 100% how/if it will affect this model), I'd personally tend to the Sony on that front too, I think. Others' mileage will almost certainly vary.

What are your priorities for a phone? That might affect it somewhat.

Oh okay. I just despise screen finger print because then if you put a glass protector on it, it pretty much stops working. And I'm clumsy as heck

This has a side finger print iirc, but I'm with you on under screen, they are very hit and miss, luckily the note I have has super fast face unlock.

Ah. I bought the note 10 plus too. Returning it on Monday idk why but I've bought so many phones over the last couple of months and I never seem to like any of them. It's bugging me so much.

A good screen. Finger print that's not on screen. Light phone. Hate heavy phones. (returned the mi mix 5g) and preferably snappy and quick. And also I'm a cheapie so I only go for amazing deals. Like, even if its a good deal, I won't go for it if someone else found it for cheaper. Its so silly but that's just my mentality. Maybe I should just wait for the next o2 refresh.
