Huawei P Smart (2019 model) - £79 at CPW by bundling it with an 02 SIMO (easily cancelled) SIM card

Refreshed 23rd Jan 2019 (Posted 21st Jan 2019)Edited by:"kebabthief"

This deal is expired. Here are some options that might interest you:

UPDATE 5**

Carphone Warehouse have removed the £36 p/m O2 Sim Only deal from the bundle. It has now gone up to £79 on the £29 p/m Sim Only tariff, which is still great value for this phone.

The Honor lite has gone up to £129 and considering how similar these two phones are, is drastically less value than the P Smart.
------------------------------------------------------------
UPDATE 4** All of the phones are back in stock.

Please be aware that it appears that CPW are in the process of making some changes. Last night, literally ALL of their phones were removed from the site, and this morning they returned with a small change to the small print at the bottom of the page where you select the SIM (in this case, O2 - £36 p/m). It seems to have been a rushed job, but I've no doubt that they have their legal team working on a revised solution. It may be last chance saloon for this loophole, but even though I don't see their changes as being watertight whatsoever, please bear in mind that is now an element of risk involved.
-----------------------------------------------------------
UPDATE 3** For now, it appears that there's no stock online, but if you check stock in store, there's plenty in stock, but obviously you'll have to collect it in store. If you do this, please ensure it's a 12 month O2 SIMO sim bundled with the phone, and don't get stung by a 24 month contract.

When I check stock in store, all of my local stores have stock.

Also, the Black P Smart went out of stock yesterday but was back in stock within a couple of hours. So if you can't get to a store and still want one, check back in a little while.
-----------------------------------------------------------

UPDATE 2** Black back in stock.

UPDATE** Black out of stock, but blue still in stock.

carphonewarehouse.com/hua…tml

Also, the Honor 10 Lite is identical to this phone (as far as I'm aware) and is the same price using the same trick.

carphonewarehouse.com/hon…tml

Thanks to dreadzone101 about the difference between the two phones.

"Some differences:
Honor 10 Lite: 24MP front, no 5ghz, dual SIM
P Smart 2019: 8MP front, has 5ghz, apparently UK model is single SIM"

Apart from those details, they are identical.

--------------------------------------------------

The latest Huawei P Smart 2019 for £69 following a bit of a loophole.

When you follow the link and click the "view bundles" under the "add to basket" button, you will see a list of bundles. If you narrow the search by only O2 bundles, one of them is £69 up front, and £36 per month. It isn't however a contract that is tied to the phone. It is simply bundled with a SIM card on O2's sim only deal.

If you dial 202 from the SIM card to call O2, they'll have no issues with you cancelling the contract. Don't even mention the phone - they don't know about it. Just say that you went into Carphone Warehouse and picked up a SIM, but you've no signal in your home and wish to cancel it. They don't even put up a fight and just cancel it and you won't be charged a penny for the SIMO.

Boom. Unlocked, brand new, Huawei P-Smart 2019 for £69.

If you're a little wary and don't trust this to be gospel, feel free to put the sim in your existing phone and therefore if anything fails, the phone is new and sealed and CPW by law have to take it back for a full refund under distance selling laws. It's not necessary as it's worked every time for me - just if you want to be extra cautious.

Enjoy your super cheap new phone

It was another deal for the same phone second hand (at far more than this) that prompted me to post it.

Guys kebabthief has taken the trouble of informing you of something that had worked for him ... I don't see what he gets from screwing people over on purpose. Give your point of view but be nice. Besides I'm pretty sure all contacts legally have to give you a 14 day cooling off period.

Thank you Zameen. I just really don't understand how people can become so abusive about either a) what they are guessing or b) what they couldn't be bothered to read.

Cheers dude. I appreciate it.

Yes it is. And when they catch on to it they'll probably put a stop to it, but while the loophole is there, it's there to be exploited.

I understand your standpoint and admire it, but at the end of the day, it's Hot UK Deals, not UK Morally Right Deals.

Don't call me an Idoot. Whatever one of those is. It's not a 12 month contract with CPW. They supply the phone, O2 provide the SIM. You can cancel the SIM by calling 202. They won't even know you got the phone. Dont ASSUME. It makes an ASS of U and ME.

Does this def work? It doesn't show as a sim only it shows as a new contract.
What's the actual contract length?

It definitely works. I've just ordered it and done it twice in the past month.

Just to check that you're in the right place, does the contract show as 12 months or 24 months? If it shows as 12 months, it's a Sim only deal and can be cancelled. Just don't tell O2 about the phone, as they won't know otherwise.
So it wouldn't be £69 it would be £105 (plus the sim card)
From what I've heard previously cancelling the plan can affect your credit rating???
If not, then its a hot deal...

The whole point of it is that you don't follow the contract. You cancel it as soon as it arrives. O2 don't even put up a fight. They just happily cancel it. I tell them that I've no reception in my house. Just tell them you picked up a SIM and it's no good to you.

I have heard people say this, but I don't know. This is my 3rd phone using this loophole and it went through fine. The best guess I can make is that it "might" affect your credit score temporarily, but once the whole cancellation goes through the motions, it should be as though it never happened.
intriguing to say the least. still voting hot good on ya who can get away with it.

You will pay £69 up front to CPW the remaining £36 to O2 comes at the end of the month but if you cancel the contract, you shouldn't need to pay it.

I know how it works, done it twice. Just wondering what contract you're signing up for before cancelling
Hmmm, this clearly states its a new contract.. i would be wary of risking it for sure, TBH im am 99% sure that it screws yuour credit record, good if it works but if it dont expensive!

Thank M-M. That's right. I haven't been charged a penny for my previous two, and it shouldn't be any different with this one.
Warning:
This does not work if you signed up to 12 month SIM and thats what this is based on.
You are misleading buyers
It works only if you take a 1 month contract then you keep the phone and cancel the SIM.
This is a 12-month contract therefore if you cancel you have to give the phone back

Any credit check will affect your credit rating. If you have a good credit rating, it'll only be a temporary, small dip on your score.

With o2, make sure your contract is cancelled under the 14 day rule. I've had so many issues doing o2 refresh in the past with o2 billing me the full 2 years airtime.

That's simply not true. I've done it twice already and just got this one. There are other users on HUKD that have also been successful, who I'm sure at some point will pop up. Please don't poo-pie the deal on ungrounded speculation

But you could get an £800 mate 20 Pro for like £69, why are you only suggesting to do this with the p smart? This can't be legit?

Do you have a link? Last time I looked at that phone it was about £600 using this loophole. Which is still a good deal for that phone.
I've done it twice and cancelled successfully within the 14 days. But when I try again it says order has been cancelled as I did not pass o2 credit check.

Is this just a temporary fail or will it stay on my credit file for a while? For example if I wanted to get another phone using this process.

That phone is £529 doing the same trick. I've just looked it up.

Thanks Kebabthief well spotted mate. HOT!
These kind of deals usually work on 1 month contract, so you can cancel it. If it is 1 year contract, you cannot cancel after 1 month, unless you come with very good reasons.

Yeah which means they will not let you keep the phone. They know you have a phone with contract as a copy of it goes to them. Once you sign up to 12 or 24 months the network gets a full copy of the contract you signed up. A 1 month rolling contract is totally different thing. Believe me if this was a 1 month id jump at it but with 12 month wont happen
Wow! Not moral - but neither are the big organisations selling these. Heat added
