Get something a bit better than this if you can afford it, this is a decent phone for the price mind.

How does this compare with similarly priced / spec'd Xiaomis ?
I have the 2019 version, 3gb of RAM and it’s great. I would say comparable to a similar priced Xiaomi. Camera is average but they all are in this price range. Oh and mine has NFC.

What would you advise with an OLED screen under £200? Realme x is the only one I found?

Thanks. Those seem to have older/slower processors. Presumably cost OLED pushes up the price too much to allow a good budget OLED model from Xiaomi

The Redmi note 9s for example is far superior than this, and can on occasion be had for around this price.
How is the Huawei OS? My Redmi 6 (now long out of date, I know) has some OS idiocyncracies, including very unreliable notifications. The screen is also over-sensitive. Would be keen to avoid a repeat.

Xiaomi have only recently sorted out some of those issues re - notifications and stuff, every Huawei I've had I've had no trouble with anything on the way of common faults, apart from battery optimizations, which can be easily dealt with
