You didn't need to, it's still handy link for someone wanting to take this Deal and that link has info regarding the Paypal cashback and how to claim.
Looks good price. Would it need a £10 top up. As it's o2 would it take Giff gaff
Edited by: "bullerbug" 2nd Mar
No u don’t need to buy top up at all
Will this work with a giffgaff sim?
How do you get it without buying a top up? The pay as you go page makes me select a topup tariff...

Yes u select a tariff but they don’t charge u or make u top up that’s just if u want to top up once u get it
Anyone know if if's locked to O2?
GiffGaff works on O2 phones, it's only Tesco phones that are double locked to both network and virtual network.
aren't CPW phones all unlocked anyways?
Already posted
This has exactly the same specs as the honor 9 lite (except for the small camera difference on paper) or am I missing something?
Would the phone be locked to o2 network or sim free?

Yes, you're right, very similar: m.gsmarena.com/com…962

One of the P Smart models (FIG-LX1) has NFC & FM radio as well, giving it a slight edge.
Anyone found a cheap unlocking service from the likes of ebay or whatnot?.. I'm unable to...

what do you mean? I've bought pay as you go phones from Carphone warehouse on varied networks and the ones I've purchased have been unlocked.

I've spoken to o2 chat and they said it would only take an o2 SIM. I guess they have to say that. I would only buy if I can stick my Giff gaff sim in. I've done that with a previous o2 contracted phone. Gut feeling is it should work, but may be a big gamble
Can someone please explain the PayPal credit part of this deal to me, there's nothing in the OP. @Gollywood ? Does it work on other phones, or only the P Smart?

It will defintely work. Giffgaff piggybacks off O2. Many phones even see my giffgaff SIM as an O2 SIM.
Oh. I guess it this, full terms:

o2.co.uk/ter…ons

Damn it. Been wracking my brains trying to find a way to get some money off an more expensive O2 PAYG handset.

Don't you cancel the contract with O2 and, voila, £189 (plus possible cashback)?

IIRC with previous deals you might have to pay the remainder of handset cost in which with those cases that method worked out cheaper than paying for it outright, anyways, much better buying this one on payg and pay unlock fee to get simfree handset, should hopefully get it lower than msrrp ( £229 )...

That seems logical to me. I already have an EE contract and getting this phone from O2 and getting it unlocked seems to come in at around £15. So I went for the EE 1 month contract at a slightly higher cost - £209. It's only a 1 month contract with EE and the cash back via CPW has already tracked plus the PayPal credit. I won't get it at the lower price but at least I know it will be able to take a EE sim - I'm happy. I wasn't trying to push CPW, it was only that it was mentioned at the beginning of the thread.

I got this phone from Tesco Mobile the other day, from the deal posted here. The handset supplied was FIG-LX1 model which has NFC & FM radio. The box was opened by Tesco Mobile and they inserted their sim in the phone before shipping it to the customer. In this instance, Huwaei supplied a generic model (FIG-LX1) to Tesco, Tesco opened the box and inserted their sim card. Tesco Mobile staff didn't power on the handset, they just inserted their sim card and then closed the box using their seals (label tape). When I opened the box, I removed the Tesco Mobile sim first and inserted my 3 UK sim. The phone was unlocked and it picked up the 3 network straight away.
I noticed a couple of things when I was doing all this:
1/ When I started up the phone for the first time with the 3 network sim inserted, the phone popped up a message asking me if I wanted to restart it for the network specific settings to be applied. I said Yes, the phone then restarted itself and installed things like 3 network background image, enabled WiFi calling and installed a bunch of 3 network apps (Wuntu, etc.). So, the phone supplied to Tesco Mobile was a generic unlocked model which then configured "itself" according to the network sim card inserted. [I still haven't tried a different network sim to check if it network locked itself too.]
2/ Maybe it would have been better to start the phone up with no sim card inserted, maybe it would have configured itself generically.
I don't know what would then happen if you insert a specific network sim card later, maybe it would have "configured" itself at that point according the sim card inserted? Difficult to know unless you try these different scenarios.

Obviously, I don't know if the O2 network does the same thing to their Huawei P devices as the Tesco Mobile network does to their devices. Maybe devices for the O2 network are already preconfigured? I can confirm though that the Tesco Mobile devices are unlocked from the box as long as you don't start them up with their SIM card in it.

Hope this helps...
My wife can't make her mind up between this and the Huawei P10 lite.
And looking at the specs they're almost identical. anyone found any deal breakers?
Thanks for any help

Also, followed the Huawei Paypal link at the phone is total cost £211 on amoanazon so saving £10ish already from other retailers and would then be total cost (after cashback) of £161 which is about £19 cheaper than we can get a Huawei p10lite anywhere (Sim free)

thanks for posting. would never have known about this phone otherwise.

I was the same, while choosing a new phone for one of my sons, but went for the P Smart in the end. Like you said, not a lot between them, spec-wise, but with the £50 cashback, the more modern "bezeless" design and the 18:9 screen ratio, plus Android Oreo out of the box were the deciding factors for me.

No, it won't as it has no gyroscope sensor (or gyro for short). One can get around this limitation by other methods e.g. VirtualSensor, but too much messing about that you wouldn't want to get into.

This phone will be fine though: ZTE Axon Mini 7 Gold - £139.99 @ Very
Will this come with O2 bloat? And can they be unlocked via someone from say eBay?I had a little look on there and can't really see anyone
If you vote this hot you're stupid
Buy from carphonewarehouse, extra £50 quidco, cancel the O2 contract straight away and the phone is completely unlocked
Total £89. It's not bad for that money but the notification led doesn't work with gmail...

From experience with Quidco cashbacks claims are confirmed long after you're able to cancel contract which means you're stuck with contract just for a £50 Quidco cashback... So, I would advise against this!..
Had one of these phones today,my verdict. Nice screen and performance is decent,a little stutter here and there mainly in the gallery app. Main camera is mushy in details and front camera on mine anyway is blurry, terrible. Oddly signal isn't as strong as other Honor/Huawei phones i have had. It's going back anyway as my headphone socket isn't working
I bought this my mum as her iPhone 5s was packing in. I must say I am really impressed. I bought it from CPW and she put her ID mobile sim card in that she already had. For £189.00 it's a great device. Large and crisp screen, excellent dual camera with a fantastic portrait mode. I'm a big fan of my OnePlus phone and it reminds me of the OnePlus 3 but much lighter.
