No, the lite's camera is very different to the normal P20

My advice would be to wait until the Xiaomi Mi A2/Mi 6X is released - early samples of just the selfie camera suggest this could set a new benchmark for pics taken on a budget/midrange device. Of course the pics released could have been 'enhanced' but we will have to wait and see.

Going to be announced in China on the 25th, will probably be a month or 2 before released globally, although the Mi A2 version (stock android) may be quicker as that is designed for a global market. About 200 Euros depending on where you get it from.

Any thoughts on whether I should go for this or the Mi Mix 2 for £60 more...

That's a really excellent price. What is the deal with Toby Deals? Are they a good site to deal with, or a bunch of chancers?

Also, can you pay with paypal?

As far as I can tell, they are a china supplier (like gearbest etc.). That rent out an office in the uk. Everything comes from china via this office.

So no chance of getting stung for customs, BUT still the same hit or miss customer service.
Why is this phone so expensive to start with? Bang average specs but modern design, surely at £50 more the honor 9 is a better buy given its vastly superior specs and the fact u can buy from trusted uk retailers. Main thing i like about p20 lite which tempts me is it is fairly compact

Cheers mate.

It seems a good deal, but I would be wary of what happens if the phone is faulty.

Could you recommend a decent, dependable, android phone around the £200 mark? I don't have many needs in a phone. All I want it for is to make calls, sent and receive texts, be able to download apps onto it, so it would probably need a fair bit of gb, and to be able to use it as a hot spot for my iPad.

I liked the look of the Sony Experia phones, but i read they had issues with the touch screen.
Anyone that has this, can they comment on the Camera quality?

this phone is perfect for me due to the size, only 148cm compared to other clunky phones that are over 150cm.

the xiaomi mi a1 sounds like it would be ideal for u and would be well under budget, dont know what ur attitude is on buying from china, but bare in mind if this phone was stocked by uk retailers theyd want well over 200 for it.

another option would be a refurb galaxy s7, could probably pick a one in very good condition for just over 200; this would blow most brand new phones in ur range out of the water, for example its miles faster than the p20 lite. Obviously just depends what ur attitude is on using 2nd hand stuff i guess

The Sharp Aquos S2 for 116 quid from joybuy? 5,5 inch screen and only 141.8mm. No Band 20 but has NFC.

Like Zed11, I'd wholeheartedly recommend the Mi A1 (especially the 4+64Gb version). Bought not too long ago from EGC for my neighbour for £137 - arrived factory-sealed within 6 days by courier from a Euro/UK location (so no VAT/duty to pay).

eglobalcentraluk.com/pro… a1

Not the best camera(s) perhaps, but they're not rubbish: gsmarena.com/xia…php

Main Pros:
+ AndroidOne: 'pure Android' with regular updates direct from Google for at least the next 2 years (no ugly/Marmite skins or constantly delayed manufacturer/OEM updates)
+ Gets updated to the latest Oreo [Android 8] after a few initial updates
+ Good mid-range processor (Snapdragon 625)
+ Dual-rear cameras
+ USB Type-C charging port
+ Infrared port
+ Most sensors included, like fingerprint, gyro, etc (except built-in compass)
+ Reasonable 3000+ mAh battery
Xiaomi Mi A1 been discontinued due to A2 coming out on the 25th of May.
This is the sort of price the phone should be commanding for official UK stock, not grey imports, don't know why Huawei think this phone should be such a jump from other Huawei/Honor phones with pretty similar specs. A notch? Pah...

A genuine question - why?

They seem quite expensive for something with an ok processor, but fairly limited memory. The cameras also get fairly meh reviews? What am I missing?

Xiaomi mi mix 2 owner here for a week... steer clear. It's all buggered. Not touching miui operating system again.
Got this phone on realease date, p20 pro, amazing phone. If you love your photos the night shots are incredible. top tip if you have one/get one, change the screen setting to HD+ (low setting) the other high option FHsomething or other does run the battery down quickly.

Ps a think the 'notch' looks great imo of course :).

Are you saying you 'got this' - the P20 Lite (what this thread is about) - or the P20 Pro? - because the pro appears to be almost 3x the price!

Would it need re-flashing to a UK ROM or anything like that?

Is it exactly the same phone that retails for £330 in the UK?
If this is coming from HK then you will be liable for Duty and Tax, especially if they don’t under declare the item.

So what to chose? A2 or redmi 5 china version. There are not enough 636 processors so probably both phones will arrive in same time in uk.

How can you be sure of this? The Shipping info on their website says "All of the products is warehoused and shipped from Hong Kong."

So how would this avoid duty/tax?

Because they ship to their uk office first then on to you read the thread and reviews on the internet
BTW i would not use tobydeals or any other china based company but others do and seem to get the stuff in the end but not for me.
If anyone bought this before it went higher price and then OOS, I'd love to hear your experience buying from these guys... and is this the model that has NFC? Apparently it's only on the ANE-LX1 - but can't see what model this is on tobyeals or eglobal.
