No, they really aren't. Huawei phones are holding their value nowadays as well, especially their flagship devices.

The only features missing from a P20 Pro or Mate 10 Pro that are present in a flagship Samsung device are:

- Wireless charging
- VR
- Heart rate sensor
- Expandable storage

I switched to Huawei from Samsung (and prior to that, Apple), and find their devices to be fantastic in every way. The battery life of a flagship Huawei will also easily defeat the battery life of an S8, S9 or Note 8 every time.

This is one of the most common posts on this site regarding phones, especially when they're cheaper than usual. It works. Doesn't mean it'll always be smooth sailing but most of the time you'll have little to no issues. As long as you are fine with taking a little bit of a credit but, it's fine

Credit hit*
This is the same deal I posted a few weeks ago. There is even a £100 flight vouncher with that deal which you might be able to get as it is a Huawei offer. It works the same as the Bose headphones.
Can also use the 15gb plan for the same price but cracking deal, pity about the model T colour options.

Potentially O2 will mess up and black mark your credit history for "not paying" which takes 6 months to remove with continuous hassle on your part to chase, which you won't even know about unless you check your credit. Most people will go through fine but thats my experience, good luck
Not so much on the deal but I really recommend this phone. Camera is amazing. Not for the megapixels but the effect and clarity. businessinsider.sg/emb…ro/

I'm tempted to buy this phone right away, but will wait a month two for a significant price drop.
I did this (o2 refresh “trick”) a year or 2 back for an iPhone SE and worked well. I ended up paying for proportion of plan that had elapsed so 3 days of £15 (£1.50) monthly plan but unlocked and airtime plan cancelled without issue or resistance. Did knock 10 or so points off credit rating but insignificant in grand scheme.

It loves the sky!
Had a mare doing this with an S6 once. I know it works for most, but when it doesn't it takes months to sort out.

Show me a Samsung phone with a better camera. It doesn't exist, and for many that is now the number one reason behind their choice of phone.
Cant decide between this or the s9 plus. I hate the curve screen on the Samsung. Have an edge at the minute great phone but curved serve no purpose at all.

You simply won't go wrong with this phone, it's a beast. You'll save a couple of hundred quid too; put the money in the bank or take the missus out for a day or two.

Hope this helps make your mind up

(I'm not saying the S9 Plus isn't a good phone. In fact it's probably excellent. Value for money wise, the Huawei offers more for less.)

As a warning from someone who pre ordered the phone on a similar deal with O2 - if you pay off the phone they will refuse to let you cancel just the airtime in the 14 day window, so include 1 month of airtime in the price of the device, because you will very likely end up paying it

I'm in a similar position. Though I like the curved screens. I'm between this and waiting for a note 9.
Requires a credit deal, cold
S9 is vastly superior to the Huawei P20 Pro. I had a Huawei P9 which boasted a Leica branded camera and the photos were inferior to a S6 Edge in low light, maybe it's improved now but I find that these things are just hyped up. Also the phone had trouble catching on the network, soon as I moved to a S8 the problems went away.

The screen on Samsung phones are way better than a Huawei.
Great deal and Samsung lovers please dont support S9 just like that when all reviews are praising the P20 Pro.

Though with this deal there is a risk of credit rating being affected and a lot of hassle. But you cant get it at this price otherwise.

3 times I've done this, 3 times O2 kept billing me after cancellation, then you do the legwork to get the money back, good price but be warned their cancellation team are useless.
Edited by: "oliverreed" 28th Apr
I've done this in the past and yes it does work, but yes they also keep billing you and you have to continue chasing refunds. You do get there in the end and all is well. But be prepared to make a call to O2 alot to get you money back. Others have done it and had 0 problems, it's hit or miss. Heat given either way as it's a good deal if you can be bothered with the hassle!
Going to see what the One+ 6 looks like personally
Good deal. £799 was never it's real price
I have one of these and considering switching to Samsung
The photos are waaaaay too over processed and unrealistic. Photos I've taken indoors are quite soft unless you engage night mode but then it's over sharpened

The touch latency is the worst part, small dead zone before it'll register a scroll which makes games impossible to play

The Bluetooth connection is the weakest I've ever seen. Nothing but stutters and disconnects when I had no issues on the pixel 2

Positives are a ridiculously good battery, nice build and no lag as of yet.
Speakers are OK but not as good as the s9
I quite like the home button on the front
Fast fingerprint scanner and face unlock is instant

Good actual user review. I agree with all your points plus S9 has a way better screen than this overhyped phone.

You know those people that try too hard to criticise a product they don't own to make themselves feel better for paying a lot for the item they bought. Enjoy your Samsung. Nobody here is going to take it from you. Have a good day.

You are entitled to your opinion and I do as well. I'm speaking from experience and would never buy a Huawei again. That said they are not bad phones but simply too overpriced IMO.

See that's what I was talking about.
It's completely personal preference of course but that sky looks very unrealistic like it has a filter on it.
Not sure it's to my taste.
Turning off the AI I find usually blows out the highlights which is solved if I manually turn on HDR but there really should be an auto HDR

Haha yeah you've I've never seen a sky like that in the UK. It's a preference mater but a bit too over processed for me.
