Method below:

1. Follow link in switchy's deal thank @razo

2. Scroll down to where it says "pay for your device in full". Try not to get distracted by headache. Click on "see our plans". Unless you actually want a new contract, choose the one that says 1gb, If you can't see that option, look harder, it's right in front of you.

3. Do you have a PAC? If so, why? You're doing it wrong. If not, click on "I don't have a PAC". Make more coffee.

4. Await delivery.

5. If you want to move your existing SIM and number and contract to the new phone, use the little pin, take out the SIM. And put it in new phone. Nothing to do with PAC.
6. Find (or order) an unused SIM from another network (e.g. three because that's easy).

7. Put the o2 SIM that you got with the phone, in the phone, and text STAC to 75075. Wait for the code and write it down.

8. Go on three's website and fill in the form to use the STAC (or if a SIM from any other network then maybe have to ring them to use STAC).

9. Wait 1-2 days for the STAC to process and check that the o2 SIM card no longer gets a signal. If it still does, the STAC process went wrong, curse a lot, and phone O2 to cancel. The first person you speak to will be wrong. Phone again until you get someone who understands their own terms and conditions. Or, try the STAC process again.

10. The first month's bill from O2 will come out of your account. Don't panic. DONT WHATEVER YOU DO CANCEL YOUR DIRECT DEBIT.

11. After a month, go on web chat with O2 and say you want a refund of the credit on your bill.

Aren't Huawei phones losing access to Android? Lots of online reviews say …Aren't Huawei phones losing access to Android? Lots of online reviews say not to buy Huawei

There are two versions of Android: AOSP (Android Open Source Project) and then GMS (Google Mobile Services) version.

AOSP is open source, this means anybody can take the code and use it for free, but is only a bare bones version of Android. This is not impacted by the trade ban.

GMS is Android, but with Google services and additional features not available on AOSP. Google charges manufacturers to use GMS in their devices. This is impacted by the trade ban as Google are no longer allowed to sell to Huawei.

Existing Huawei devices such as the Mate 20 and P30 series already have GMS installed and they are allowed to keep it since they were already announced. These devices will continue to receive up to 2 years of software updates (from release date). However, new Huawei models do not have GMS, instead opting to use GMS with Huawei services.

Huawei devices without GMS will presumably still receive updates, they just won't be with Google services like Play Store.

Is it possible to get the £100 cashback on the like new £209 deal making it £109? 😏

I'd have said no, however, if you're OK with swallowing the £20 loss, it may be worth a go.

I currently have this phone and it updates every month or 2. I have had it since July and been happy with it. It just got android 10 too with a security patch of January. Update wise the security patch is normally a month away from current month I may not get a update till April I guess now and that will patch it till March if things go like they have been. I cannot promise how long the updates go for but they normally update for 18-24 months from the release date normally.
Just incase anyone confuses it, this is not the P30 Pro.

Android is open sourced, the only issue is they may not allowd to pre-installed google play service, but you can install it on your own and it make no difference, thats what I did on my Xiaomi which was shipped from China.

Great post Switchy. Having bought one recently, I will say that O2 like new handsets are of the highest quality. P30 a very capable phone indeed. Also, if you are an existing customer, try asking for a discount. Worked for me.
So i have this phone in the o2 basket and I'm about to order it.

Can somebody explain the process of cancelling the airtime / data plan?

Thanks
I can see one month plan with brand new device as £289.
Mr switch.....where is my Pro offer??

No it will never be removed, you just won't get more than 2 OS updates (same as most Android GMS phones).

It's all explained in the deal details above just under where it says method below, using the stac code cancels the airtime plan without having to phone up to cancel it.
My debit card transaction went through then was refunded and declined instantly, I tried a second time it says it was declined yet the transaction went out of my bank for the £289 and stayed out this time!
