it's interesting that 1080 resolution is pretty enough for most people on 50" TV, but not enough for some on 6" phone
Profit I made on sale of 2x mate 20 pro ( bought for £152 @ the end of September on o2 refresh) was enough to get me free p30 pro (for £256 on o2 refresh) and extra £50 pocket money... love HUKD

Whilst I think this is an OK deal compared to past prices, surely that O2 refresh makes this NOT a deal?

P30 pro came out after mate 20 Pro and has better ratings.

P20 pro-> mate 20 pro - > p30 pro, and sadly it'd be the mate 30 Pro after that but Google has been banned on it.

P30 pro is only better in the camera department, the mate 20 pro has a better screen and the rest of the phone is pretty much the same. Having had both I would say the mate 20 pro has a more superior feel about it in terms of the phone itself too (design). Voted hot!

Regret not getting the xr as well. Greed!

It's 1440p which then leads to worse battery life tho isn't it?

They're both great, deffo.

Good to know 😁 I jumped from p20 to p30 and skipped the mate, but they look like absolute beasts.

Not a fan of resolution as I used to have a 4k phone and it just drained the battery!

Shame the mate 30 Pro won't be available with Google play as it looks like an absolute beast.
Does anybody know if this is the dual sim version?

Yes that’s true a lot of factors can decide battery life but a higher resolution screen generally means more battery drain compared to a lower res. Definitely both great phones.

I got two mate 20 pro's one for £152 and one for £177) sold one and made enough to get mine for free. I didn't fancy the p30 Pro, only the camera was slightly improved, the rest is the same other than the worse (but still very good) screen, so didn't seem worth it.

I was after camera, don't mind lower resolution as I set mate 20 pro to lower resolution anyway to save battery (honestly: couldn't see difference, might be just getting older).
Didn't like notch on mate and rear square camera was awful too (much nicer on mate 30 though).
I came from p20 pro and felt like mate 20 pro was downgrade regarding low light photography, deffo downgrade regarding fingerprint sensor. Also had a lot of crashes on chrome for some reason on mate (had to reset it but still persisted), now sorted on p30 pro.
TOF sensor is great too (AR measuring app is actually pretty precise)
Only thing I'm missing is stereo sound and notification led ( but have to admit vibrating screen instead of speaker is cool).

I bought both on the amazing refresh deal as well and sold the Mate 20 Pro on for a profit. The P30 Pro has the better camera. I also prefer the slightly wider screen on the P30 Pro as opposed to the Mate 20 Pro and couldn't get on with the huge notch on the Mate 20 Pro either - there was hardly any space for notifications. The difference in resolution is barely noticeable.

I do miss the stereo speakers but the sound quality from the single speaker on the P30 Pro is better despite being mono. 3D face unlock is overkill at the moment on Android as very few apps support it as a means of authentication. Everything else is the same.
Or jump on eBay and you can get sealed ones for 460ish from everyone who jumped on the refresh deal.

I've had the Samsung s8 and note 9, ran both on 1080p. Battery life beats unnoticeable pixels any day off the week.

Got the p30 pro, it's a good phone. But feel the software is a little restricted in the settings department.

Going to try it for a month and decide to stick it out or go back to my note 9.
Camera is amazing, but the screen colours are a little lifeless.

OLED 1440p panels running at 1080p are still sharper than native 1080p panels running at 1080p due to the subpixel density being way higher on the 1440p ones despite running at 1080p, so its not really comparable.

But in a 6.47 ich display it's not going to be extremely noticeable unless you're looking for it. As well after a week you'll become used to the pixel density on either side of the scale.

So a little sharper and less battery (think it was between 1 and 3 hours on the note 9) or the slightly longer battery life.
How is this so hot??!! It's considerably cheaper via O2 refresh.

Ended up selling all of my refresh ones and keeping my OnePlus 6
Made nearly £1000 so maxed out my income tax trader allowance for this year, have to remember to not do anymore phone deals
Got one for £256.50 from O2 refresh offer before weekend. Flogged it for £400...
This might be a good deal, but i can't pay 500 quid knowing others just paid 250 a few days ago, i'm petty like that
I was thinking of this or the LG V50. Was considering the latter as it is meant as a phone for audiophiles and Im big on music. Anyone have information on how they compare?

Totally agree. The difference is noticeable, OLED colours are most definitely brighter also, aswell as the blacks are well blacker. Having had both I can say the Mate 20 Pro has one of the best screens and is even better than my current iPhone 11 Pro Max!
Why I get all the hate check out my post lol

Camera on P30 Pro is epic, a significant reason to buy this phone. Screen is really good and I'd rather have the better camera upgrade.

Did you also have the Mate 20 pro and can say it's vastly better? AFAIK there's not THAT much difference between them. OIS and RYYB sensor helps a lot though, but the sensors are the same size and setups are similar.

RYYB sensor is a key shift, Huawei & Leica spent years developing that tech and the P30 Pro is the first phone to feature it.

But also this, as Stuff magazine put it:

"The addition of a depth-sensing time-of-flight camera is important, but the bigger feature is the ability to pull off lossless 10x zoom. It's a mixture of optical and digital zoom (more the former than the latter), and it is truly, honestly impressive. It's so far beyond the 3x optical and 5x hybrid zoom of the Mate 20 Pro.

Given that the P30 Pro also takes excellent everyday snaps that are at least as good as the Mate 20 Pro's, Huawei's newest phone takes this win by a clear margin. The P30 Pro can also record video from two cameras at once, which is downright cool."
Alot of companies will be putting Huawei phones on deals in the coming months like o2 did. Unfortunately with the USA ban hanging over the company. Many are trying to get rid of Huawei phones and not stock them anymore. So keep eye out for more offers
Sorry can't vote when I got this for £255 on O2 refresh the other day..... But what I can say is, alot of phone for little money!!
