Excellent phone, don't forget it doesn't come with Google as standard, that means lots of apps are not available or just wouldn't work if you sideloaded them.

Of course, the internet being what it is work around are available - YouTube has various vids on how to get it working - just ensure you are looking at a video published after 25th July or know that you have to change the date on your phone to end of June before LZPlay will work.
if Huawei still had google services on these new phones they would be smashing it out of the park.

They certainly have the money to do it, my two best phones I've used recently were Huawei I'm not ashamed to say, which is why it hits me hard to see phones like this without an actual direction.

A watered down version obviously, but still very very good.

Sorry, yeah it's 3800, I was thinking of the Pro

At this price rather buy a P30 pro.

The cash is there especially after working on massive R&D center....rally the developers I say. I need a new job 😁. Yes, and quite rightly so, there is no need to be ashamed. I had my 20X 5G, only sold because it is huge, but was happy with overall performance. Camera 📸 was mind blowing.

I recall, mine was the 20 x and p30 pro. Cameras imo untouchable apart from Google, and even then, I use the wide angle loads, so wouldn't choose a current gen pixel for that alone.

I think with the news about Huawei becoming number 1 and the new HMS Core updates the direction is clear but i would certainly say that the P40 series will most likely be underrated and in some cases forgotten due to this transitioning period. These are not devices for everyone- however anyone willing to do a little research have a bargain on their hands.

for the tech nerds like me ...

I think the cameras on Pixels are just software enhanced, where as Huawei it is more of hardware performance, and yes, software is needed, but from my experiences they are germs. My lady friend has the standard Mate 20 she got from JL last week, still decent. She loves it, and so do I. I think a lot of us just need to come to terms that the direction has changed. There is alternatives out there. Here Maps are good, I use them alongside my Garmin nav.
Great phone great price.. Wish Google worked by default
Good price for this

I wonder why they chose a picture of a shower head spraying water on a cupcake as the lock screen picture on the promotional advertising?
Hello,
Can someone explain what is the impact of this: Google Mobile Services and applications are not integrated into this device
Thanks!

It means you can't use your Google account on this phone. Hence no access to all Google apps without doing a bit of work to get them

A friend has the P40 5g lite, bought reasonably cheap as new.Due to the fact its previous owner couldnt get past the Google issues.Seems great, only major issue for me anyway is the lack of Google Pay.Suppose I could take my contactless card out my tin foil wallet, too much effort though.

It's not just about that though I find myself needing something when I'm out and about with no wallet with phone in hand you can never fail with Google pay

Totally agree. Huawei Pay is coming soon according to Huawei, just don't know when that will be. I'm not exactly going anywhere at the moment so haven't felt the effect without it that much, personally i cna wait but i can understand how other cannot
Good to see at a tempting price!

I know that with many tutorials available it won't be that hard to make GMS work on my new P40 Pro. But that it's not the real challenge, the goal is to have my new Ticwatch Pro 4g to work with my P40 Pro WITHOUT GMS on it. That could actually work better in the long term for the phone's battery longevity. I'm gradually adapting to shortcuts and apps through browsers and instant web apps and it's not bad at all. Buying the P40 Pro also forced me to rethink and assess how actually not so essential are many apps I have on my Note 9.
I even bought this pen:

amazon.co.uk/dp/…are

and works remarkably well.

This worked for me ! I highly recommend this method. I've got app store sorted with this method. ✅

People, get a grip. It's just a phone, ffs
this has a better camera and more ram than the Poco F2 pro I ordered from AliExpress. And a UK warranty.
