This Huawei GT 2 watch or the Samsung Galaxy watch?

Does anyone have any inside knowledge if this Huawei GT 2 watch will likely be greatly reduced in the coming weeks?
Edited by: "nad12" 25th Dec 2019
It's been around 164 with black strap, would recommend to wait more

The sport version of the gt2 is normally cheaper so u can look into that when it drops soon hopefully.

This did drop to 150 a few weeks ago.
I have a sneaky suspicion that both this watch and the Samsung Galaxy watch will both drop soon. Samsung have been promo'ing the galaxy a few times this month. It tells me they will reduce the standard price soon.
Of course, I could be wrong though.

Just wondering which is the better watch? I wonder if the Huawei's side buttons will catch and pull off due to their protruding nature.

You could get the Honor Magic Watch 2 which is basically the same with a slightly different bezel and it's around £130ish if you look around for it.

Odd how the Huawei GT and the Honor Magic 2 are the same watch, by the looks of it, but one is cheaper :/

Honor is a Huawei brand, hence why they look so similar and have the same internals.
I am sure this was for sale for 99.99 on here

Yeah just checked that
Bought this 2 weeks ago for £164. Lovely watch. I’m using it paired with an iPhone 11. I actually bought it because it’s more of a dressy watch. But have since swapped the brown leather strap for the black rubber one that also comes with it. The battery life is awesome as well. Not quite getting the 2 weeks as advertised but well over 9 days. I’d wait for it to return to the £160 mark though. Heat for the watch. Cold for the price soz

I looked into both, the downside of the Huawei is lack of third party apps but if you could live without that the Huawei is normally cheaper and has a way better battery of around 10 days to 2 weeks.

Yeah, I've done my research over the last quarter hour. I agree, it comes down to what you say.

I concur. Bought last week too. Some days, it's used all day and I've lost about 3% battery. It says two weeks, but I reckon I could stretch it out.

The stress and sleep measurements are incredibly interesting.

I've owned a lot and this is my favourite so far.

I returned mine. I've also had a lot of different smart watches and wearables and for me, the one thing missing and crucial for me is ability to respond to messages - even if they're canned messages like Pebble/Fitbit/Garmin. If the OS had that, this would be THE watch to get because everything else is really, really good.

There is one con for me and that is the app. It will count steps of your phone as well as your watch and you're not able to disable it. I understand that creating an aggregate may help with accuracy, however, I'd prefer to use the one thing I'll almost always have on my which is the watch.
want this. But would rather pay £164. Not sure whether to hold out for a week or so..

I couldn't wait so just went for the galaxy active 2 yesterday. Preferred the gt2 too but oh well.
Hiya. I just bought the Titanium edition which comes as elite huawei gt2. It's one amazing piece of kit. I switched from galaxy watch to gt2. I owned huawei watch before too. Yes it doesn't reply back to messages one thing if it means alot. Otherwise the rest very stable connection to the watch and two weeks battery life is true because my usage is very high and its using 3 to 5 percent every day so easily it can last two weeks. I have too many notifications which keeps on coming. Excellent display and alot of compliments too.
They rebranded the huawei and honor brands just for the trade ban issues. Yes initially the price is high I got mine for 190 which has 249.99 retail price. I am very happy with it. The brown one is 219.99 so around 160 it's good price. The black one dropped to 149.99.

Honor has been around a lot longer than the trade ban.

How do you find it with IOS. I have seen mixed reviews and debating this and the Galaxy active 2
Had a play around with one of these in carphonewarehouse today. Really nice so went on amazon and brought (saw marketplace opened box for 177
I think I prefer the look of the Black sports version. The orange one is £170 today at amazon.

Orange one has been that price for ages I think. Generally the titanium then the classic are the most expensive ones. Sport and the orange one less expensive.

Yeah, I think so.. maybe an option to buy the sports strap separately. Nothings shipping until Monday, will ponder over it this weekend

Not being fully compatible with iOS doesn’t bother me. It notifies me of important things. Tracks my sleep, heart rate and steps and imo is the best looking smart watch for the price.

Sorry to ask a lot of questions... what doesn’t it allow you to do? I know you can’t reply to messages but not too bothered by that
My experience is truly the best with this watch
Never buying a Samsung watch again !
I have their gear 2 smartwatch and it is incompatible with all the Samsung tablets
I believe the newer models are not pairing with any tablet also...even from the same manufacturer
I bought a new huawei Gt2 instead and works like a charm with my Samsung Tab s3 ..
And lets not talk about the battery ..
Good job Samsung .. for sending customers to Huawei

Well it depends what you want from it. For me it does everything I need it to. Tracks heart rate, sleep patterns, notifies me for messages, WhatsApp, emails, ring doorbell, calendar notifications (ideal when it meetings), it’s waterproof so can wear it swimming, there are a bunch of training activities but haven’t used them yet, you can answer phone calls from it. The built in speaker is amazing. So for me it does what I want. There are lots of YouTube reviews. Take a look at some to see if it covers what you need. But for me and what I need it’s perfect right now. And if they ever release the update for the wireless pay....bonus!

how have you paired it, an app or just bluethooth?

With the Huawei health app
took the plunge with the Black sports version from JL, added the 2 year accidental cover too.
Also have a P30 pro coming for work but will be pairing this with my iphone XS. Will be my first experience with Android..
Good device -

Let down by the poor notification support really :-(.
other than that pretty solid ended up switching for the 42mm version as preferred the look and lighter to wear at night for sleep tracking.
Long shot. Hi all. I got a Huawei gt watch as it my first watch im a little unsure on a few things. Any1 help plz. When you swipe right you have steps and 2 others. Times? And a person and a chair? What do those mean plz. Cheers
