Amazon does these with a 2 month waiting list and ebay is out of stock ... so how do you get your light bulbs to change colour in time for halloween?

given the hub is £40 on its own this works out at around £10 a bulb.

i want to use these with my philips ambilight tv - plenty of orange tones - spooky.

Around £10 is pushing it a bit - they are ~£14 if you value the hub at £40. Still, not a bad deal.
Are these the Bluetooth ones?

Well I saw no sign of the Bluetooth word on that Currys page, so I think its fair to assume no Bluetooth.
However, with a hub, Bluetooth doesn't really matter... unless you were planning to eBay the hub!

I see the hubs often for £10 on facebook.

I personally don;t use color bulbs just ambiance, and I normally pickup for £10-13 on offer.
How is there a market for the hub? Is it that some people don’t buy the lights as part of a kit or can they be jailbroken or something?

There is a maximum number of bulbs and accessories per hub, so if you have a massive house and loads of them, you might need multiple hubs.

The newer bulbs have Bluetooth and don't require a hub and can be directly connected to a phone or smart home device like the Echo or Nest Home, the hub however does provide some extra functionality.

I myself have 2 Hue white bulbs and use them with an Echo Dot and they work great.

I was wondering about that.
