Hudl 7” 16GB Wi-Fi Android Tablet Black - Tesco/Click and Collect *DOUBLE UP WORKS*

EDIT - Quite a few people experiencing quality control issues with their Hudl devices, not sure I can recommend one at the moment, even with the double up offer...Do some research before deciding this is for you....

Right we all know the deal on the Hudl and the "Double up" Clubcard points, however, there doesn't seem to be any codes going that work with existing accounts (which you will likely have if you have points) and thus cannot get a further discount.

Don't despair...

Simply order it from the "Grocery" site instead and use this code which can be used on EXISTING ACCOUNTS...
EDIT - Some people saying the codes not working on existing accounts, I believe it's more down to if you have used one of these SPECIFIC codes before that causes the problem, if you have, then it won't work.

XX3KPJ - £15 off a £60 grocery shop. (This code 100% worked on my existing account).

Or

XXFFCH - £15 off a £60 grocery shop.

This will take it down to £106 if you use click and collect. (£2 click and collect charge)

To make use of your clubcard vouchers to double up, simply go to the Tesco Clubcard website and order online boost voucher codes for "Tesco Groceries". These are only valid on a few bits and bobs but the Hudl and accessories are included.

Personally I ordered £100 worth for £50 and then just paid the £4 difference as didn't want to have to wait till next statement date to have the difference in voucher denomination refunded.

It should only take you a few mins to do, the Clubcard boost token codes should be received within 30 mins of ordering.

Just to note, only the black one is available at my store, not sure if that's standard for all etc...

JUST SO THIS DOESN'T WASTE ANYONE'S TIME, CHECK AVAILABILITY AND THAT CODE WORKS ---- BEFORE --- EXCHANGING YOUR TOKENS!!!!

(By adding £60 quids worth of crap and checking code works on your clubcard points account)

EDIT - Can confirm this all works and I went to collect my Hudl this morning, was provided with a proper invoice point of collection as you would when collecting a Teso Direct order.

EDIT2 - Click and Collect no longer free for groceries from 4th November so total is £106 (£2 extra for collection).

It was via Tesco Groceries. Maybe they have caught on and removed them from the Grocery store?

Yes but obviously stock will vary between store, the boost token page clearly states it's for use on a few different types of "finest" stuff, some cosmetics/skincare and then the Hudl + accessories too.

I'll be fuming if when I turn up this turns into a debacle.

Collection is for tomorrow so will post back...provided loophole hasn't been closed/etc, not really a loophole anyway but we'll see.

got a purple one for my little girls birthday

what's better, this or the first Nexus 7?

Depends what you want it for. I had a 1st Gen Nexus and bought a Hudl for my Mum. The 1st Gen nexus doesn't have a rear-facing camera, but the one on the Hudl isn't that good IMO. The other niggly thing is that there's no light sensor on the Hudl so you have to set the brightness manually; you might not think that's a big deal but it's quite complicated for an 80 year old to understand!

Nexus 7 1st gen is better

Most of the reviews for the Hudl have been at best mediocree, it's chunky enough for children but lacks the power and features of other tablets (As the engadget review says, it's a rebranded Archos HT7S3). It's a cheap-and-cheerful "My First Tablet" loaded with tesco bloatware and will do a job, but if you expect anything decent, you'll have to put up more money for maybe a Kindle HD or Nexus 7. You get what you pay for.

Could use double club card points £30 = £60 off + £15 discount = £45 for Hudl??

Voucher code does not work for me, on a grocery shop of £107

Horrible device. Had two faulty ones in 3 days and tesco won't refund the points used to buy it back onto the club card. Avoid.

It got rated 4 stars out of 5 on Techradar, beating the Samsung galaxy Tab 2 which for some reason got to almost 3000 degrees on here.

I recommend the asus memo p ad hd7, much better reviews than the hudl.

Cold. Not an iPad.

Only joking, didn't vote either way.
Just a mirror of a comment in the Tesco iPad deal.

Well, I'm bored!

STORES TO BE RECIEVING STOCK TODAY AND TOMORROW!

Appologies for the caps. 14000 hitting extra stores over the next 2 days. but only black. colour varients will vary by store but in limited numbers

Shame they haven't done a 9 or 10 inch version.

7 inches just doesn't satisfy me.

Sorry, this product is currently not available.

Another low end tablet. I will let it pass.

Worked for me! Thanks.
I used 25 double up = £50. Had £15 discount plus another £3 voucher so cost me £51
Thank you

That's what she said

I ordered one yesterday and also entered code TDXR-P3Q4 to get £15 pound off a spend over £75 via tesco direct.Go for it.

I got one of these two days ago, it was really because I found I had a load of vouchers to use up, and I thought it might not be bad. Might give it away to somebody at Xmas, etc.

I am seriously thinking this tablet is one of the best bargains ever ( especially if you have vouchers to use up)

Have been very very impressed with it. Blinkbox Music is great by the way, free music playlists like Nokia Mjsic.(better I think)... The selection seems excellent so far, I want a Stone Roses playlist and it plays a good selection of Roses style bands, etc...that i can take with me offline, great stuff, and free....and there other little bonuses with this device (money off vouchers in the box, etc.

One issue I had was the SD card, like Samsung devices it doesn't seem to like Sandisks very much, but my Samsung sd card has been great (shame I have 4 san disk cards... Found they seem to have problems with a number of devices, in the Hudls case they really seem to freeze up the system...

I am now going to click on the recent Samsung 32gb US-1 cards huk deal and get a couple, much more stable than the Sans...

Has anybody actually looked at the Hudl carefully, I had a look at the Hudl today and I must say its poorly designed, it actually looks like a cheap children's toy tablet.

The overall rounded design is out of date looking, the main concern which is one of its major floors is the twin rear speakers placed at each side on the rear back body (the user will place their hands over the speakers when holding the tablet in landscape mode and block all sound). The Hudle has been purposely design to view and hold in landscape, having the speakers where they are is a very poor design indeed.

Not good at all. (_;)

Anyone seen a decent silicone "back" for this. The only official one one is daft looking red thing.

Voucher doesn't work

Heat added. I was lucky to order a blue one with matching case on Monday morning. Was delivered free of charge to my door on Wednesday. Got it up and running within twenty minutes. It's fool proof IMO. The best bit about it, I paid nothing for it. I used my Clubcard vouchers.......

I've been to 4 stores (and one of those on three occasions) and the display devices have been frozen and neither me or store staff can revive them. A colleague went to a store and both were frozen.

I went for a Nook HD+ instead.

That would have been the dummy display models my friend

nook hd is a great little thing except the android version is nook locked and is irritating.

Yes, dummy display models that have power and working LCD screens.

I discovered the £15 off first grocery shop aswell and decided to get 2 with boosting some vouchers, all payments went through last night, decided on delivery time of 4 to 5pm and thought great. On the way home today I got a text message saying they were running late by 40 minutes, sod it, whats 40 mins. By 6:55 I phoned customer services to find out where it was - they said van trouble, it will be with you in 30 mins. At 8 i phoned again really annoyed and they said 'a hudl, through groceries, but we only deliver food, i'll pass you to Direct'. To cut a very long night short, they have messed me around for 3 hours passing me to different departments only to find they were out of stock!!!!!! so what the hell was/wasnt on the van that broke down on the way to me, and why didnt they tell me this morning that they didnt have any to deliver????? Half a dozen different departments all under the name of Tesco that dont know their **** from their elbow. Really disgruntled with them. Just thought I'd let people know of my issues. Rant over

cant understand that people think using their clubcard vouchers = free????

the vouchers are at least worth their face value on essentials at tesco's which surely means thats money you have spent!

earning the vouchers is a loyalty bonus and so is not also "free".

I don't like praising the big T but one thing they are quite good at (i've found) is offering some good will vouchers for messed up deliveries. I'd give the call centre a ring and complain, they may offer you a half decent money off voucher.

It's not demo mode. One of them was showing the Hudl logo, and when restarted just showed the Hudl logo. The other was showing the Android soft buttons but wouldn't do anything else.

Store staff couldn't get them working either.
