Posted 8th Oct 2014

This deal is expired. Here are some options that might interest you:

The original Hudl is now reduced to £79 on Tesco direct - all colours. it was saying £99 but once you click through the reduction is showing, I think they have sorted it now so that £79 is the price shown - good to use with double up if like me you dont mind the original as getting it for my child for xmas.

It is still showing at £69 on their tesco outlet on ebay for a refurbished one.

So why are you writing there is a code if noone can obtain it?

PS. If it is account specific noone will be able to use it. If it is not account specific everyone will be able to use it, including you.

Because I responded to your comment that there was not a code, now I'm sure I'm not the only one who's received a code so if your a previous Tesco Direct customer you may have a code that's been put in your spam folder that you may have missed.
I've posted a code just above for existing customers - just in case you missed it

"This eCoupon is linked to another customer account and it can only be used in that account." is the message i get with the code

I honestly wouldn't go for this at all when there's Asus MemoPad HD7's going for the exact same price every other week online somewhere (for where just search on here rather than glibly asking me for a link).

I went and had a little bash on the HUDL 2 in Tesco - which has only just been released and scrolling up through a simple shopping site caused the display to stutter and judder - worrying as I know no such juddering would happen on my Asus - which is now at least 1 year older than the HUDL 2.

Doesn't the Hudl have superior PPI and a better processor? Worse cameras (but who needs cameras on a tablet, really?) I read that the Hudl 2 is sluggish, but could that be the Atom processor as opposed to the ARM ones in Hudl 1 and MemoPad? Anyone actually own a Hudl 1 that can comment on whether it suffers from being sluggish?

I offer the above as questions, not statements. ☺
I've just done a load of research online for a cheap budget tablet to check emails/tripadvisor/lonely planet etc when travelling around on our various trips. The vast majority of all comparison articles rated the Tesco HUDL in their top 3 budget units. That was at £100. So at this price, if all you are after is a budget unit, you can't go wrong. I ended up getting a refurb tegra note 7 which was very highly rated in a lot of the articles, but, had I know this was going to happen, I'd have gone for it hands down.

For info, the other budget unit that regularly came top of the comparisons was the nexus 7. It is considerably more expensive though.

You've got to remember that Tescos is everywhere and their customer service is very good. Any problems, and you're not dealing with some faceless online entity.

Bargainous!
Thank you for this post. I have just bought this and doubled up my clubcard vouchers and got it for £69. Happy happy
do the codes work for a HUDL2?

I've not looked into what processor the HUDL 2 uses, but what I do know is, on a simple scrolling action on a simple shopping page, there shouldn't be the worrying levels of juddering that I saw. And I didn't just do it the once. The Asus that's this price uses an ARM, and the newer one uses an Intel. Of course there are still plenty of people unaware that Asus make the Nexus so it's worth bearing this in mind when considering which budget tablet to go for at this price level.......in my opinion.

I was messing about on a Hudl in Tesco yesterday, above it it had a banner with Hudl 2 across it. I kept going back as I wasn't that impressed as I was planning to get a Hudl 2.
I then realised I was using the original Hudl. Are you certain it was the Hudl 2?
I've ordered a Hudl 2 so I'm hoping you're wrong.
This is a great device for older children as a started tablet. My 9-year-old loves hers and it does everything she'd like it to - games, iPlayer, photo fun etc. Great price.

Being that they were all in a great "New HUDL 2" display, I am 100% positive. I am in no way dissing budget tablets, I'm suggesting people opt for the budget Asus over this any day of the week.
Plus using Tesco Wi-Fi to browse any site is never a great idea.
missleading

Laggy scrolling has nothing to with page loading (unless it's a dynamic loading webpage).
missleading

BTW the HUDL2 doesn't launch instore until tomorrow. (_;)

Why would anyone buy in-store. DSR for the same price.
