V3??
I'm just getting an error from the link, when I search they come up as £49.99. Is it just me?

Not from the picture. They look like they are silver which are the older ones.

I just can't justify getting a hue set up because of the price of these when xiaomi ones that don't need a bridge are coming up sub £10 now

I have Philips Hue. It's got some advantages such as being able to turn them off using that Home app by Apple, and having lots of apps available for them and support is good.

A disadvantage is obviously the need for a bridge as these cost quite a bit and they require an Ethernet connection to work (so I bought some repeaters)

They're the new ones. They are HomeKit compatible, though I agree it is confusing

So presumably their function is very similar using alexa or a yeelight app/other android app.
I couldn't decide for a little while which way to go but once the xiaomi bulbs went so low in price, that swayed me away from hue

Probably, I'm not sure exactly. Probably not compatible with HomeKit though
