Great deal. But do I need it. One bed flat with 12 bulbs and 2 alexas..

I find that sometimes when guests come around it’s better to have a physical switch. But maybe that’s just me
I wish the motion sensors would start coming down in price too!

I'd say yes at this price as another option. It doesn't just dim you can select four different scenes from it. Also it is mobile so doesn't have to stick to a wall. Easier to dim than using phone or trying to dim lights to correct setting by voice control. I use mine all the time and I have similar set up to you.

All our switches are still in place, despite us having Google Homes, so when people visit we just tell them to use the switches.

There's a guy who uses a 3d printer to make switch covers to avoid issues like this

Hi En1gma, who told you that the Hive can't be moved to a new address? I moved house last year and took mine with me and have set it up in my new house without any problems. I had to call them up to change the address but it's been fine.

I have printed one of these, its cool. Removing the remote, reveals the original light switch. Best of both worlds..

I hate it when some one turns of the lights at the wall.. I am a slave to My Hue..
There are also switch bridges that fit over wall light switches preventing accidental switching off.. I 3D print mine, but cheap on Amazon

Did you take the hub connected to the router and the box connected to the boiler?

Yep, I took everything that was originally in my old house. They wouldn't be allowed to stop you moving it from house to house or that would be anti competitive. You just need to call them to change your address to your new one, the number is in the App.

I swear they told me you could not. Or was it someone else could not register it if they moved in. Probably the latter actually.
Well all I know is you can take it with you. That probably sounds more like it as they wouldn't have access to your account. Mind you it's a good point if you did move into a house with it, would you need to buy a new Hub to activate that for your self? Although there should be a reset button to wipe it and start again. Otherwise it's going to be pointless and you couldn't heat your house or water.

I think you'd need to buy the hub again if you move into a house with hive already.

I've just bought something similar from a seller on Etsy, but it's a replacement for the switch itself:

etsy.com/uk/…ate

Compared to the cover it's a lot more slimline, but obviously requires you to connect the wires behind the switch to permanently on.

Edit: Oops, just seen that they have that option on that eBay listing as well!

I actually wondered if something like this existed about a year ago and found this seller, hey must be laughing charging a tenner for this, that 3D printer had paid for itself. I buy a black plate from B&Q and remove the old one, link the wires together (properly like) so the switch is always on, and put this remote next to it. Not a bad solution, especially for about £1.50

Look good but we don't actually mind having the switches there as we just don't use them except when guests are staying. Other than that we use our Google homes to turn them off or mobile.

It' the people in flats that do these setup the most. Gets very confusing when you try setup in a house. The bloody 2 way upstairs downstairs controls over 6 seperate double switch. Now I finally got everything and wanted to program it all my smartthings HUB has gone walkies . The cables are there along with the 4 motion sensors. Door sensors arrived yesterday. But its all useless now someone moved the hub and no ones owning up to it ☹.
