Amazon's UI is awful, no A-Z, no price filters, no good 'sort by' options. It makes it harder to find stuff sometimes. So, just as a handy tip for those that like digging around outside of the "suggested" curated stuff:

When you go to the address bar, you can adjust the price range by manually editing the amazon URL.

For example:

i=instant-video&rh=n%3A3010085031%2Cn%3A14876067031%2Cp_85%3A0%2Cp_36%3A349-399&adult-product=0&field-consumption_type=purchase&field-feature_five_browse-bin=3283676031&field-ways_to_watch=7448664031&p_n_entity_type=9739952031&qs-av_request_type=4&qs-is-prime-customer=2&ref=atv_hm_hom_1_c_xs8jui_5_smr

Is my url for the £3.49 to £3.99 films.

So if I edit this bit: A349-399 to A149-300

It will show me the films that are £1.49 to £3.00 instead. I have found many hidden films that don't appear on the other deals listings by doing this. I just got Snatch cheaper because there are 2 versions on the site.

Nice post mate. This should be the main post for the Mega Movie week!

Heat added!

Hopefully more stuff will get added
Cold Pursuit 2019 with Liam Neeson also £2.49 HD
Is there an actual link to everything that is on sale? Having Prime content and stuff to buy all jumbled together makes it incredibly difficult to navigate around the website.

Just click on the Rent or Buy tab. The prime stuff is filtered out then.

No 4K E.T. on iTunes though. I usually buy iTunes films, but tempted to get E.T. on Amazon at this price.

Does anyone know how the quality compares on Amazon and iTunes? Similar bit rates?

To an extent, but no support for Dolby Vision or Dolby Atmos as far as I can tell. Are they even Dolby Digital 5.1? It doesn't specify.

Don't seem to include extras either.

That's really useful! So much appreciated. :-)
A shame Amazon doesnt have an app for 4k on pc
Breaking Bad 1-6 for £2.99 - I’ll be having that. Greatest TV show ever made imo.
Heat because Saving Private Ryan is the GOAT.
I don't think I'll ever understand why anyone would pay for a digital "copy" of a movie, just seems bizzare to me.

I think it's bizarre paying 2 to 8 times as much for a disc that has little benefit over digital and takes up space on your shelf.

If all my digital 4K films had been purchased on disc instead, I'd have much less space, more dusting to do and I'd have spent literally thousands more than I have.
Edited by: "Metalex" 23rd Jan
Try the Just Watch app from Google play. You input what you want the price you want to pay up to etc and just check in daily and you will see what deals are to be had. I just watch for amazon and Google as those are the only 2 I would buy from

I pay less for my disc overall than what digital would cost me. This mega movie week is great but should be these prices all year round.

I own my Disc i can make my own digital copies if needed it don't take to much space up as I only keep what I really need i can resell bad films or 1 time watchers.

I presume you only buy DVDs and Blurays when they hit bargain basement prices then? In most instances I've encountered UHD and Bluray movies generally can be bought for less on digital than physical media. Most people who buy dics tend to keep them until the point they're practically worthless anyhow. I know because like so many others I've been there before.

For some films disc is better. Chris Nolan movies for instance. The iTunes cuts are different as they lack the IMAX shots.
I am a huge movie fan and have an iTunes account with hundreds of films but I also buy the discs.
Also some like ET are not available through iTunes in 4k. I don't think Starship Trooper is either.
Though I tend to buy new releases through Vudu so I don't have to wait for UK release.

That is true, and there are many instances where iTunes have Dolby Vision variants that the physical disc only displays HDR10. But this wasn’t the original point I was making. From a pricing stand point Digital is just a far cheaper solution for building a library. Only hardcore enthusiasts who want the very best visuals and sound can justify building physical media libraries in this modern era of digital movies.

4k when £6.99 with a digital code I sell on to get my cost lower than digital. Also the extra blu ray disc can be worth a few quid that come with 4k

Some don't come with codes then I look for bargains on eBay etc or stick to the blu ray as ther just as good or better than digital any way

Also I don't care if they become worthless as I will be keeping them and digital become worthless the day you buy them.

my average cost per film is less than £2 for my collection of 500 odd films I also have many arrow video releases which are top notch transfers they cost a bit more but well worth it.

I find I break even or even make profit on ones I don't want to keep.

I'm struggling with the maths here and your explanation. You're buying 4K discs for £6.99 or are selling the codes for £6.99?

How do you get the cost down to £2 per film?

Are you claiming Blu-rays are better than 4K digital?

Where did I say I pay less than £2 for 4k blu rays? But some 4k bluI have yes

Sample 4k cost £7 sell code and extra disc all after fees and post gets me 4k blu ray for under £2.

I said overall my collection cost less than £2 average that's includes non 4k just like you would have in a digital collection not every film is in 4k.

And yes I seem better blu ray transfers from arrow video remastered in 4k than 4k releases on digital or 4k blu ray.

LOL, I'm none the wiser.

How much on average are you buying a 4K Blu-ray for and from where?
Isn't the issue also that 4K streams (Amazon & Itunes) seem to deliver a much reduced bit rate compared with the physical media?.

I fancied the Deer Hunter 4K at £2.99 but someone has already posted it was so poor they got a refund......

Of course the bit rate is less, but the raw numbers don't tell you much. The quality differences are very small (plenty of comparisons on YouTube) and what you might lose in terms of ultimate sharpness when pixel peeping, you don't lose anything in terms of HDR or Dolby Vision advantages. Honestly, for me, the cost differences between the two mediums are really not justified.

No idea what's up with the Deer Hunter - what did they say? I might buy it myself and check it out.
