You get what you pay for a lot of this stuff looks like posh firewood.

You give it too much credit. This won't burn well, it'd be consumed in seconds.

Good for poor students, especially with the screwdrivers they got from Christmas crackers.

Completely agree but for student digs, starter homes, lower income families, etc... these are fine to get by on for a while.

When we bought our first home, we scraped by on donations, second hand stores and cheap furniture like this until we could afford to start replacing it.

Buy cheap buy twice.. It does no one any good to buy cheap stuff only to …Buy cheap buy twice.. It does no one any good to buy cheap stuff only to have to replace later, thats a false economy, it makes sense to do without save and buy quality to last for a very long time.

You heard it here first folks, everyone buying their first expensive homes with no money whatsoever left over for furniture, pots and pans and the like, sit on the floor and eat crisps for the first 6 months in your fab new home. It’s just not worth buying cheap stuff. Ridiculous.

I agree with the advice but not everyone is in the position to choose. I wish people would think before they comment.

Overpriced stuff is still Overpriced?
I bought a Fulton tv unit a few days ago (£34) noticed it was included in the £5 of a £35 spend on selected electricals promotion so added a pack of printer paper which was also included in the promotional list and received both for £31.75.

I've never found any cheap flatpack furniture which comes close to the IKEA stuff - they are the masters of flatpack!
I do need a pair of bar stools for my basement cocktail bar....

with that in mind it is worth looking on ebay, especially if you are able to collect things. we got some great pieces for living room to tide us over that were all less than 30 quid each. The only thing we bought new was the ikea cheap coffee table and that is looking well ropey now (but then it does get more of a battering). You can get proper lovely wood things that will last.

Shame as I was hoping for reductions on small furniture. Thanks anyway.

I still use a cheapo chipboard desk at home that I purchased in 1992, still going strong.

If people are like me they get fed up with stuff and replace it anyway

Well done (_;)
At the end of the day this site is for people to find good deals. If people want modern looking furniture that happens to be made with particle board then that's fine!
Sorry OP, this is a big fat COLD from me. Here's why..

I'm all for these sales, but I have spent a good hour looking at things I might like to buy, then google them and find them the same price elsewhere. This sale is a CON.

For example:
£66.33 at tesco
tesco.com/dir…401

£66.78 at supersaver:
supersavedirect.com/pro…ak/

One has to question if other companies sell these stock items at "sale" prices all year round, how much is Tesco scamming us for the other 360 odd days of the year they they inflate their prices to be bought by suckers? It's upsetting that so many people fall for it and think they are getting some kind of bargain, when in fact they are paying for Tesco executives' pensions.
