Sorry. My mistake. But the watch/car combo would work I think

I dont know much about watches but Breitling has always caught my eye (not surprising) but they all seem to be around the £5000 ball park. I usually read the comments from other watch enthusiasts to build my knowledge so posts like this are very helpful. It looks like a really nice watch and at a good discount. Thanks.😄

Not just the service, but prices for Hamilton in the states is much cheaper. Previously I bought a Graham Chrono from their £1400 including duties. The watch was around £4000 in the shop's. Not many Graham dealers in the UK.

coldpop

Sometimes the service from the states is better than the service here.

peter1969uk

I nearly bought one last night from a clearance company in the US it went for £459 plus £75 postage. It would have cost £640 altogether with import duties. Though this is cheap compared to the normal price of the HAMILTON RAILROAD CHRONOGRAPH H40656181. If it hadn't of finished when I was in bed, Id have put another bid on it. Before anyone says that is risky from the US. I've bought watches from them before, without any issues.

coldpop

No problem. A sound choice. Enjoy. (y)

In the end i went for an automatic Hamilton, I felt a slightly more youthful vibe from the brand, website etc. Thanks for sharing your experience and input, at 25 this is the first time I've really looked at watches in the 500-1200 category and the input here helped reassure me

It's a stunner, it's the only one I've worn since May 29th when I picked it up :D I'll probably only ever wear that and the Sedna now, I'm not fussed on the black ceramic one, but it was super cheap (around 42% off) AND had 0% available, so I thought it would be a nice little piggy bank. As much as I love the 42mm 'Skyfall' it just feels a little small after getting used to wearing the chrono... All in all though, I'm really pleased with my little set.

MPD1

Think the white dial would be my pick of the bunch. Looks like a fun watch for the weekend 8)

ezzer72

Haha, yeah, I kind of get that (:I Thanks mate, glad you approve, I'm just waiting for some end links to arrive for the Sedna chrono and that will then be on a bracelet, I think that will have to do me for a while though (y)

MPD1

Love it. Great pic! I think I see a theme emerging across your collection but I can't quite put my finger on what it might be... XD

ezzer72

Haha, yes I'm afraid I did Mike, did you not hear? (I thought I'd gone on about it plenty!). I ordered the limited edition America's Cup model, and the night before I was collecting there was a really good deal on an ETNZ GMT, so I impulsively bought that too (shock) The collection now looks like this; Don't know whether to laugh or cry (y)

Try chrono 24 and use the as new condition filter...can find some great stuff there.

coldpop

I would, but it’d need to be pristine with box and papers. Not many used watches are really mint. I’m certainly up for saving money, but not for compromise on condition.

Then why not just buy it mint second hand for probably half the price?

Agreed, I lose track of hours, sometimes which day it is, but I never recall losing track of what month I’m in (lol) Could be useful if you found yourself in a coma for a couple of months... that said the charge would run out without movement after 48 hours. Still can’t find a use for it.

I do like an omega. But this is too cluttered for me. The months don't add to it.

matttapsell

Services depend on the maker and I've only every done it when there was a problem. I think waterproof watches are better because there's less dust ingress. It probably a fair point

muscle21

Doesn't a mechanical watch cost massively more in service costs?. A solar powered quartz watch is virtually service free. My Samsung phone is extremely accurate too

matttapsell

Tolerance of under 6 sec/day. My Sub is incredibly accurate but it doesn’t like being stopped so I tend to keep it on CET when I’m only flying in for day. http://www.chronocentric.com/watches/accuracy.shtml I agree a quartz is accurate but they’re disposable because you simply can’t justify the cost of a service. iPhone is better still

muscle21

A mechanical watch, any mechanical watch isn't accurate to those tolerances afraid. If it was +/- 30 seconds a week you'd be doing well. Even good watches like this one are subject to temperature variation, how much the uses moves around or not etc

matttapsell

This is a chronometer. You’d take it back if it lost more than a couple of seconds a week

Ugly ugly watches, that is why you were given the discount, they needed a mug who was more interested in discount than looks.
