In-store in John Lewis, as part of their Sale Promotion. They had five of these in the Milton Keynes store, each looking like they were straight out of the store-room, as John Lewis have stopped selling this model. (Previous price was from £135). It gives you proper Youview, along with remote record via the appropriate, with HD. It's one of the few Freeview HD boxes to offer a scart as well as HDMI. Youview was here before Freeview+, allowing you to scroll back in time and watch previously transmitted programmes from the guide. This is good for those less technically minded, avoiding having to fiddle directly with the iplayer, itv player etc. There are some 320Gb models around at similar prices, but they aren't all Full Youview boxes.

Yes I saw these last week and was very tempted but I'm seriously wondering how long YouView will continue, Freeview Play is a better option. In the end I spent £179 and purchased a full HD 32' television with Freeview HD & Play built in
Excellent PVR and a serious bargain at this price. I've had the 1Tb version for a year or so and much prefer YouView for its more sober and grown-up interface.

32' TV - wow, just wow! Is your garden big enough?
Such a shame that nobody has been able to develop custom firmware for these newer Humaxes
Why do youview boxes take an age to start up? It's ridiculous!

Mine doesn't. It depends which of the Energy Saving settings you select. The best approach is to use the Smart Standby option (assuming you've updated your box reasonably recently if its an old one). This will put it in a deep sleep overnight then into normal standby during the period you might want it on. It can still perform recordings - support.youview.com/you…dby
I purchased a HUMAX HDR-1100S B Freesat box earlier this year so I could ditch sky+. I was only basically using the box as a PVR and it was costing me £27 a month. I haven't missed a lot on sky tbh and the Humax box is performing really well as a recorder (with series link). Installation was simple as I used the satellite feed from my previous sky box - just pulled the cables over.

Still use my Panasonic freesat box with DVD built in. It annoys me youview is never freesat just freeview. Freeview is dead half the spectrum has been sold for 4g and 4k will probably never be on it just via the internet. Surely satelite is the way to go. All TV like BT is always freeview. Even nowtv's box is freeview. Surely they should have a freesat version to capture ex sky customers?
