I don't think this has been posted before (but the search engine has failed me previously!).....

Comet special discount code to get a Humax Freesat HD box (the Foxsat-HD one) reduced from £149.99 to £134.99.
OK, you have to either pay delivery, or collect from store, but I'd put money on it being several times better than the cheaper Goodmans.

Enter code 0108EM6 at the checkout

Quidco cashback too!

Voucher code expires 4th August, so be quick!

The e-mail says "exclusive voucher codes", but I bet they're not.

Other "exclusive voucher codes": -
Save £20 Olympus 12 Megapixel Digital Camera £129.99 £109.99 0108EM1
Save £10 TomTom One GB V3 £109.99 £99.99 0108EM2
Save £40 Husky Wine Chiller £119.99 £79.99 0108EM3
Save 10% Kenwood Mini Chopper
Delia Cheat Product £18.95 £17.05 0108EM4
Save 15% Panasonic 5.1 DVD Home Cinema System with iPod docking and full 1080p HDMI upscaling £249.00 £211.65 0108EM5
Save 10% Humax Foxsat HD Freesat Box £149.99 £134.99 0108EM6

Even if they are exclusive, give it a try (as I'm not going to use any of them).

Isn’t this the Freesat HD box with the serious lip-sync issues? I’d highly recommend doing some research on AVForums or DigitalSky Forums before buying this.

Dunno, it's the only Freesat HD box available from Humax, and people are always raving about how good Humax stuff is (the amount of times I've read posts saying my Sky+ box is rubbish, and I should get a better Humax freeview box :)).

Of course, Freeview suffers from terrible lip-sync, so all you cheapskates out there will already be used to it

But... "Thank you for your e-mail about BBC HD.

We are aware that there are problems with picture and sound synchronisation on BBC HD through Humax receivers. We have notified Humax and they will be addressing this issue. You can contact them on the following phone number for more information:

Looks like Sky's £75 (if you can recommend a friend) HD box with a PVR built in, is the better option after all!

I'm guessing if we suddenly start to see a few deals on this particular box that'll probably mean the promised PVR version is imminent, which has gotta be good,(assuming of course that it works ok) as it'll certainly give Murdoch & Branson's sphincters a bit of an aerobic workout, and not before time IMHO.

I wouldn’t hold your breath as it could easily be 3 to 6 months before the PVR shows up. Hopefully by then the Freesat platform will look more compelling than it does now also; fingers crossed.

Assuming, by that time, there's something worth recording (that isn't either a shopping channel, or something that's already on Freeview)

Without a decent HD service Freesat is probably just left with areas which lack Freeview reception as its natural clientele. I think they need to roll out HD in good time to grab Freeview users before HD become ubiquitous.

FREESAT does not have Sky Sports News.
and other channels are missing? so.. basically channels missing and only one BBC out of sync channel.
Time to wait me thinks

most of the lip sync problem is a lot to do with the cabling use good cables and you should not have this problem

I’m fairly sure that Humax have acknowledged that this box has problems which suggests that it’s more than just a cabling issue.

No - if you believe that you've fallen into the scam of buying seriously over priced cables that will make no difference to the £2 one you get in the box. I sometimes wonder if companies like Monster employ people to post stuff like this to try to perpetuate the pseudo-science they employ as fact.

i've got the Foxsat HD and have not had any lip-sync issues. guess it might just be a select batch of em.

i got the pci-hd card from hauppage.. it's cheaper and has pvr function but of course you need a high spec pc

wouldn't recommend going freesat hd yet until the price drops

Or is it a flame to start this debate again?
