have been looking at this for a while, it is £75.00 at the moment but enter the code

TDX-TFNG

and it takes it down to £65.00

seems cheaper than anywhere else by a long chalk for brand new

A good deal but if it runs out, this is available from Humax Direct as Grade A for £69. Their Grade A is effectively new.

Possibly discontinued as not showing as available new from Humax.

Thanks OP - I've been waiting to get one of these for a while. I was thinking or ordering the Grade A from Humax's stock: But this way I (i) get an actual new one (ii) Save £4 (iii) save the postage and (iv) Get some Clubcard points! Cheers!

Good deal

Great little box!
I use one of these to pick up FreeSat in Poland with just a 1.2m dish.
This is the perfect box if you are looking to receive every last dB you can get your hands on.
Amazing signal quality from even the weakest and noise ridden reception.
Worth the cash but don't confuse it with it's big brother, the HDR.

Which can record (the big brother HDR I mean). This one can't - even to an external drive...

I know its not a humax.... but if you can wait maybe : lidl.co.uk/cps…r=1

I have one, and the EPG takes ages to work properly

By that I mean you press "Guide" and it opens up the EPG. Then you can't do anything for a good 10-15 seconds whilst it loads up before it allows you to scroll through the programs.

Thanks

Anybody know of a cheapish freesat hd box which can record to an external drive/USB stick/SD card etc. ?

Humax used to be an awsome name. If they still r this could be good.

I showed this to the wife and she said "What the Foxsat?"

good price, had mine years, never missed a beat

Can I cancel my Sky+ and still use the sky dish to plug this in to?

Yes

You can also still use your Sky box for free to air channels but you won't get access to HD.

Not entirely true.
You get access to free to air (FTA) HD channels so BBC1 HD, BBC2 HD, ITV HD, CH4 HD and a couple of others.
Some other HD channels remain encrypted like ITV2 HD, CH5 HD but the SD counterparts are still FTA.
This is their financing model which is subject to change so more HD channels will move over to FTA in the future.
Sky are currently resisting this but it's inevitable since those channels only ventured with Sky to cover the setup costs.
The ongoing revenue sharing relationship is subject to a review soon and it's likely ITV will launch ITV2 HD on FTA to compete with the BBC and to have the whole pie rather than just a slice.

Seeing as this doesn't record I suppose it can't do a sky+ type thing either?

Sorry my mistake, I meant to say "all HD channels".

Had one of these since they first came out, prefer channel list to Freeview. Awesome unit and very reliable, throw your sky out and replace with one of these.

If you were paying extra...

just ordered one, if it is good i ma upgrade to a recording unit in the future.

Should've gone straight for the recorder, these are IMHO the best makers of Freeview and Freesat boxes.
