This deal has been around awhile. You are better off with the Freesat PVR version tho as this box is purely a receiver with no record or playback or timshift or other features on it.

There are recorders on the other pages on the site tho.

On the other hand this box is £200 cheaper.

To be honest, with iPlayer, ITV Player and the like, I don't miss the PVR functionality at all.

had one for a few months .... at that price get it bought .. supurb it is !!

I have the PVR and I have to say it's great! I am tempted to buy this and link them both into the home network via the ethernet ports on the boxes... This would allow me to access the programs recorded on the PVR I think...

GGGGreat find, ordered mine. Cheaper than fleabay!

Well if the ethernet is active for streaming then you should also be able to use this to record to a HTPC.

Good deal - freesat HD in scotland doesnt carry any ITV stuff though - how rubbish is that?

Um, I think you're mistaken... ITV do not have an HD channel yet - all of their stuff is accessed via the red button. Which is carp because it means you cannot record any of the HD content.

Can you access iPlayer & ITV Player with one of these boxes?

If you can, that might swing it for me.

First welcome.:)

As of yet its not available. Humax have the update ready for using iplayer over the ethernet connection so I have heard. But are just waiting on the BBC to supply there modified software. As far as I know (well heard nothing) ITV haven't got a timetable in place to do on demand on freesat yet.

I think BT Vision would be the closest thing to what you are after. I don't think there are any freeview/freesat boxes that can do that at the moment, unless someone wants to educate me!

You can set whatever ITV (and BBC) region you like on the Humax Freesat HD and PVR as they are all coming off the same satellite. I think you just need to do a manual tune for them.

The Humax PVR does also record Freesat ITV in HD. When you select the prog off the EPG it gives you the option to record in HD or SD if both are being transmited. I recorded the Piers Morgan Monaco prog via the EPG timer earlier in the week.

There is talk/rumour of the i-player being available on the Humax PVR in the future.

This product requires a correctly aligned functioning satellite dish already installed prior to purchase. The product cannot be returned unless proven to be faulty. For more information click here

There is talk of iplayer being an update for the PVR VERSION of this box, not the NON-PVR version of this box AFAIK. This is a freesat box with no frills, at 1/3rd price. Dont assume a the moment you will iplayer working on it as they are getting rid of these for a reason.....

You cant use this to record HD into a coupled Freeview+ box, only SD output. For that you get scart output at best not even full DVB style quality.

If you just want Freesat then this is the box to get. It used to be £99gbp a week ago. This has been posted before i beleive.

The HD DVR seems a better all round option if you can afford. THey cant keep em on the shelves they are so popular, increible for £300 as you could buy a new telly for that.

ok entertain me here guys...I have an old sky dish hanging off side of house that's no longer used as i swwitched to virgin. Would I be able to just plug this into the dish and it would work or does it need aligning to another signal?

As long as the dish is still aligned to the satellite (and isn't literally hanging off the house!! :whistling:), you are good to go. Just plug in the Humax, hit tune and WHOOPEEE! :-D:-D[/SIZE]

Actually, BBC/ITV have made sure all freesat boxes sold have an ethernet port for iplayer functionality.

In the Goodmans HD Box which was on offer for £50 a couple of months ago, the manual says that the ethernet port is for unreleased functionality whatever that means.

They aren't getting rid of these cheap because of the PVR version, they are going to continue selling both. It's cheap because this is a Grade A version they are selling, the cheapest you can buy a brand new one is for £130 from Comet.

Please enlighten us on where it's been confirmed that this won't get iPlayer and the PVR version will?

1) Will I get ALL the Free channels that I currently get with my basic Sky digibox? Dont have any sub with Sky.

2) Just need to remove current Digibox and replace with this?

3) This is HD???

Sorry for being thick - techno stuff doesnt come naturally at all to me

Voted HOT and ordered one

This doesn't come with the satellite dish though foes it? Just read the info on the side of their page.

No, of course not. If you have sky with a multi-LNB and you have a spare connection on it you just need a cable from the LNB to the Humax

1 yes, but you will need to flip it in to non-freesat mode for some of the channels

2 Remove your old sky box, plug the sky dish into this, job done.

3 Yes HD, looks superb!

Don't get a BT Vision Box - mine was free and I ended up using it for a free hard drive. If you have ever owned a Humax or Topfield Box and then tried a BT Vision box you will go mad at the awful experience that the vision box offers - though you would learn to watch stuff you recorded quickly before an enforced reset of the box wipes everything (a fortnightly experience for mine when I had it).

Not all free channels, some of them are encrypted even though they are free (something to do with copyright). I'm pretty sure you can get the vast majority of them though - someone should confirm/deny that though.

Yes, you can just replace it.

Only a few channels are available in HD, the rest are just normal SD - like with the sky HD boxes (they obviously get premium non-freesat channels though).

Are you sure? Where did you see this?

i heard that you cannot use the sky dish for these you need a different dish for them??!!

Is this the first sign of price cracking?
Because if they don't lower prices soon Sky is gona kill freesat HD !!!!!!

How many connections from the LNB do these things need?

Yes, if you have a working satellite dish that you current use for UK satellite broadcasts (e.g. Sky) then you can replace your existing equipment for a Foxsat-HD

You can use the normal SKY dish for this one OK.

You have to have a dual or quad LNB on your dish to use the PVR version properly
