I have this and cannot fault it. Best PVR I have owned (and I've had a few!).

just hope its better than the older 9200T model, that too was great untill the last firmware upgrade and retune, box cant cope with the new upgrades & channels. Unresponsive remote, lost recording etc. still buy another though, just as long as it can cope.

Great buy, even better when they've sorted the problems with digital switchover.

Best price I can find so I don't understand why it's getting cold votes.

Thanks CSIman, been on the lookout for one of these for a while.

I got that one as well and had no problems apart from the usual slow response from remote..apart from that all is well.....ive done it now and it will probably break down tonight...

How many missed ends have you had off of the recordings? Can't believe you can't pad the recordings in series mode, massive flaw in my estimation. My 5 year old Thomson DHD4000 still seems a better prospect than many current PVR's bar a small hard drive. This is probably a good price, and one of the best PVR's, but that lack of padding and slow EPG put me off.

I'll give it some heat  The humax was the best pressie I've had

If you like that price, then it could be simpler to pick one up at Argos at £126.99 item 532/1681 but currently (til Tuesday) with a £10 voucher for spending £100+, so net £116.99 (assuming you'll spend the £10 Argos voucher).

(I got my 9150T from Argos last Xmas'time for c£99 - but I had Argos vouchers burning a hole in my pocket - and it replaced a Tivo which I loved, but I wanted twin-recording and all-digital recording.)

If you have a digital HD TV you may prefer the 9300T model with larger disk and HDMI interface but it's £160+

And I'd 100% recommend the 9150T - and/or the Humax Foxsat-HDR if you want to record HD via Freesat (though it soon gobbles up the hard-disk!). I had a 9200T for a few hours - it was only some months into 9150T that Humax realised they were making a device to use in a HOME living environment and it needed to be QUIET - but at least they do learn!

Cheers - people just vote deals cold if they dont like you :-D

Anyway, glad you find it useful. This has none of the problems that the 9200T has had / is having. Best bit of electronic kit I have ever bought in terms of value for money / usefulness. Haven't seen a TV advert in over a year :w00t:

Amazon reviews are glowing

I bought two 9200T's last Xmas, one for me to try and replace my Thomson, and one for mum and dad. Mine was a pain, lots of issues, my mum and dads has been 99% perfect. We live close to each other so same transmitter. The only difference is the folks tend to leave theirs on whereas I tended to switch it to standby. other than that, luck of the draw i guess.

I was thinking of getting this but with Freeview HD requiring new technology this is only okay if you're bothered about receiving HD signals - it's a 160Gb PVR with a twin tuner though so still a good deal. Humax are great, simple as...!

This explains why mine has went wonky.

I've got the 9300 (I think that's the number) which is the same but with a bigger memory. I replaced my Sky + with it and it's just as good:thumbsup:

Odd, mine's always been a bit unresponsive and had a few quirks (as I have said on here before!), but it hasn't changed, same as it always was, and a friend's is also the same!

The 9150 doesn't have the USB file transfer, so that's different

If you do a full reset, this should resolve these problems. You'll lose your recording schedule, but you keep anything you've already recorded.

I have to hard reset mine about once a fortnight, and it doesn't lose the schedules!

Hot price for great box.

I bought this a couple of weeks ago from dabs.com for my mother. However, I've a friend that works for sky who's offered a friends and family deal that I can't knock back so the humax box is surplus to requirements.

If anyone wants to make me an offer feel free to PM me. Happy to sell at slight loss. It's never been taken out of the box

I'm talking about a factory reset, not just switching the machine off. Go to Menu - Installation (0000) - Default Setting (0000) That'll retune, and clear the recording schedule.

check out the website www.tvretune.co.uk this will give you a breakdown of transmitters in your area (handy if like me you live in n.wales but prefer bbc north west) it also gives you the channels for manual tune very handy

NOTE THAT PEOPLE COMPLAINING ABOUT PROBLEMS ARE REFERRING TO THE 9200T MODEL (NOT THIS ONE!)

This is about 4 years older than the 9150T which seems fault free going on my experiences

Yes, THAT does clear the scheduled recordings.

Didn't do a thing to alter the performance/functionality of mine either though (used after the recent major channel change)

Possibly explains why mine's been quirky & intermittently crap (it was a gift - a recon - Some gift!) ever since I got it - maybe it had this firmware back then! I put it down to being due to what it is, a second-hand faulty one that had been tarted up, as it was always lousy compared to what people were experiencing on here!

Seems to have problems ehough though, when you look at people's experiences upon doing a brief online search - commonest seesm to be the usual HD problems which needs a reformat of the disk (as with my 9200!).

Not as bad as the Thomson 6300 nightmare though, and after all, this is the best brand on the market at a moderate price, but very annoying when like me you watch TV intermittently, and end up with dozens of recordings you would LIKE to have watched! (USB transfer is OK for one or two items, but it is ULTRA slow, so you wouldn't use it to send a disk full across to a PC!)

Funny though, I have had PCs for about 17 years and have never HAD to reformat a HD!

Hi,
Was hoping someone could enlighten me as to the differences between this one, and the 9300T ?

johnlewis.com/230…spx

Is it just the size of the HDD ?

Good price but if you have a local Richer Sounds you can buy this with a 5 year guarantee for £131.90

I never even get close to filling my 160gb one (thats 80 hours of TV!) :w00t:

for those with 9200Ts who've noticed them going r-e-a-l-l-y s-l-o-w since the digital switchover...try deleting all the channels and radio stations you don't ever use. Theory is that the 9200T's RAM can't cope with the number of channels/stations on freeview now, hence the problems. Deleting superfluous channels seems to help (well...it worked for me!).

It has twice the size of HDD, has upscaling HDMI out and a front display which the 9150 hasn't

The 9150T and 9300T are the same generation and are the current models on sale.
The 9300T adds HDMI output amongst other things such as more connectivity I believe and the larger HDD of course.

There are issues with the 9200T, 9150T and the 9300T that Humax has acknowledged and they are hoping to have a fix out by the end of the month. It will be on the Humax website first and then be transmitted OTA.

Same for me, such a shame, its a fantastic recorder, just the latest firmware has made it unreliable and they dont seem to want to fix it. You know it will all be "normal" again after a format, right?

I think it corrupts the HD and seems to make everything go funny. I just bought a topfield on ebay to replace it unfortunately. Still hoping they'll fix the firmware and i'll go back.

Looks a good price.

I've got a 9200T and like already mentioned it's playing up now, slow epg and unresponsive remote, it's a real pain in the a$$! i nearly ended up throwing it through the window!!

Good to hear this though

as a pvr this is fine-does the job but the picture isn't fantastic-slightly noisy, not the sharpest, so i don't recommend it as a primary picture source

Arg, I find this out the day after I buy a topfield on ebay :-D

Typical! Thanks for the info though, would be great if they could fix it, its a fantastic machine.

Oh right. So they are from the same series, just the 9300 has bigger HDD, front display and upscaling HDMI.

Thanks for your help. Think I'll spend the extra 20/30 to get the bigger one.

I currently have BT Vision in my lounge, but it'll be full up within a week or two of recordings. I record quite alot

I've got this, never had problems. Used to be noisy but it updated over the air automatically and now it's pretty silent. Bought for about this price last christmas in the sales from argos, loads of space to record.

I have an old Humax PVR9200 and it is miles better than the Sky+ box I had installed in February this year. I dont even bother to use the Sky+ box to search for programmes or for teletext as it is so rubbish. If this model is half as good as my 9200 then its a bargain.

The main issue with the Humax PVRs is regional so if your area hasn’t started the digital switchover yet you shouldn’t be affected yet.

For anyone having other intermittent faults it could be that your HDD is damaged. My 9200T was playing up out of warranty so I connected the HDD to my PC and ran a diagnostic and it hung when I ran a low level format. I replaced the HDD and it was then fine

£169 recommended if you watch/record lots of stuff. Also available at play
]http//ww…ers
My experience of Humax PVRs is reasonably ok. Program and series recording work 99% of time.

Have had the occasional missed ending which got worse when I series recorded the Treacle People and the endings of these were lost. Don't know how the Humax works out automatic programme start/end but I guess these signals are sometimes missing on some shows/channels ?!? Had to change the automatic end timing to +2 mins. Problem then is that you cannot series record. Bummer.

Still, once you've used one of these for the first time (hasn't everybody got one now?) you'll wonder why you didn't put the VCR in the loft years ago...
