Thank you.
I bought one of these new. Had it for about a month. Not given me any problems yet.
These are great. No subscription and plenty of choice. Good price.
Just ordered one. Thanks OP. Heat added.
Given how hot these went previously, I'm surprised this hasn't. £50 cheaper than the previous Currys deal, graded stock but looks new, 1 year guarantee, next day delivery and stock still available. Thanks OP great deal
I have an old 320gb Humax Foxsat box, would I be able to transfer my old recordings onto this box? I know HD recordings are protected but would SD recordings copy across?

I'm surprised too. Comes with hdmi, ethernet cable, remote, batteries and instruction manual in a sealed pack. Looks new as far as I can tell.

Yes you would be able.

21.54 for delivery to Northern Ireland? Jesus!!
can anyone tell me the difference between this and the hdr-1000s? is it the same except the colour and this one has wifi and the 1000s doesn't? is the epg and processor speed the same? looking to pull the trigger on this one but don't want a laggy box. I need it in black really to go with the rest of my kit.

My sentiments exactly. Was going to order one but no way am I paying over 20 quid delivery! Might as well buy the newer version for 189.

Anyway I had a good email back and forth discussion with humax customer service but it doesn't give me a lot of confidence in them, they were totally dismissive..
Can someone confirm, this is Freesat so would require a satellite dish?
Yeah you need a satellite dish like a sky one.
does this work with now TV?

Nope.
Very good price ,

But the last humax I bought from humax direct refurb lasted 3 weeks , but I got a replacement fast , sadly the replacement had the same issue 2 weeks later also ,
I requested my money back , which wasn't so easy , but got it back in the end.

So once bitten twice shy ,
Shame this is Freest, been looking for a Human Freeview deal for a while. Heat anyway.
I went through three of these in June, the software was glitchy when using catch up services and would freeze and the customer care helpline just have you resetting the box. Gave up and went back to Sky after the third one failed and none of the recordings would playback.

We've had one for about a year now - not as slick as a Sky box but pretty good, a handful of little glitches have occurred with the software etc but generally works well with excellent picture and sound. Happy with ours as after ditching Sky it paid for itself within 6 months :-)

Yes you would be able.

I would be very surprised if you can as I contacted humax a year or so ago and they said I would not be able to transfer my hdr 1000s recordings as I needed to format the drive, which I still have not done

Worst customer service in the world! I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone, I've lost count of the amount of this companies boxes i've returned in the last three years and each time their attitude gets worse and worse and no apology for the fact I've had to have so many replaced. I even asker to speak to someone senior and their tone and attitude was just as bad.

It's a good price, so it gets heat for the, but the company suck big time, so I'm not knocking the poster for the deal.

That's not the same device. You can copy SD recordings on a Foxsat box to usb. Then you import the mpeg files onto the HDR-1010s.
better than sky box which missed starts of programs and cut off endings, brilliant recorder.

+1 I've had mine for around a year, very good unit overall, as good if not better picture and sound than sky box which I haven't missed at all.

***fossman*** The popular belief is you can't do what you want. I have though with my Freesat box like yours fitted a larger hard drive and copied the content over successfully
My dad has been through 3 of these boxes and I'm on my second. There not as realiable as their predecessor, that didn't miss a beat.

Must of had a dodgey batch of these gone out, see others have also suffered

quality has gone downhill at Humax. Be warned.
Sorry to hijack the thread, I've been looking on ebay for one of these for a little while. Is there an older model that's less prone to problems or quality issues I should be considering instead? I would like to avoid a sky sub for a year or two, and my TV has Satellite decoding but no Freesat (or Freetime).

Thanks for any advice, I don't like the sound of the 'had 3' style comments above!

I've had a Humax HDR-1000S/1tb for a year now. No problems here. Did get it from new. Only the very occasional problems where I couldn't see my recordings. Easily fixed with a power cycle though ☺

***zoea*** investigate humax foxsat-They are well thought of. Changing the hard drive is easy, recordings are not locked down. The catch up is the week area, I use a Now TV colored black. Raydons custom firmware is very recomended
Is that Now TV easily available ? If you don't mind, which model numbers do you refer to?
I am always concerned with the term refurbished , they could technically give it a quick wipe over with a cloth, and flog it on . Does anyone else think refurbished stuff is a bit suspect ?
Not long had the 1100s, bought it from richer sounds, 6 year gaurantee, any problems they can sort. Impressed so far,Sky can stick it.
