Humax 80gb hard disc single tuner freeview recorder, 40 hours, Graded Stock.

Last years best pvr. Don't know what graded stock means but site says they will collect and repair for at least 12 months. Only one tuner but a reputation for reliability and sensitivity for picking up marginal reception channels. rf modulator.

Someone wanted a freeview recording for christmas and this was the best I could find. £81 includes delivery and they said they could deliver by christmas, just, so we will see what comes.

used to have one before it suddenly died after about 14 months - ok for what it is, but only a single tuner, so cannot tape and watch another channel. Also cannot watch another recording, if the unit is taping something. There is also no way of downloading the recordings onto a PC (as you do in Humax 9200). There is also no way of editing a recording to remove adverts, etc.

BUT...

If someone is on a budget, this is a good unit. Personally though, I would pay more to get the Humax 9200

just my 2p worth

A fantastic piece of kit - well worth £80 - although empiredirect do have new units in at £120ish (less quidco or rpoints).

The best price I can find for the 9200 would be from John Lewis with quidco and vouchers bringing £197 down to around £178 + you get 2 years warranty as opposed to most other places 1 year.

Sorry not a techie, but would you know if after recording prog to the HD, if you could then copy it to a vcr, or dvd recorder to archive? Am looking into an alternative to current vcr.

Thanks

Not with the 8000. You can with some others though; including the 9200.

BTW the 9200T has just had an update 0.10 and it now has a 50 recorder time limit, you can also record 2 channels at once unlike the 8000. BUt this is a great deal for £80, especially as the 9200T is at least £160+

Thanks Repo. Will try and find some reviews.

Sorry to be thick, but whats a "50 recorder time limit"? Also can record from sky, whilst watching another channel?

Cheers

A

I agree with all the above, I have both the 8000 and 9200, both are great and will change the way you watch TV but the 9200 is vastly superior and IMO well worth the extra spend.

Yeah I thought about the 9200 which is meant to be even more sensative to weak signals. But At over £170 it was way out of my budget for a christmas present, even £80 strikes me as extravagant. I rationalized it as the 9200 has twice the storage and twice the tuners but costs over twice the price so in a way I'm buying half a 9200 for half the price. In truth the 9200 is newer and so probably has newer better software and electronics, but for my budget I'm still happy.

Hi, Maplin are selling a 160Gb Twin-Tuner PVR for £99.99. Sign up to their flyers and you should be able to get a £7.00 discount coupon. No doubt this is not comparable to a Humax but for £99.99 it's good value for money for a 160Gb Twin-Tuner PVR (brand-new not graded).

This is a Vestel clone and is the same as one that Argos are selling for £139.99.

Think that this product has now expired on maplin.co.uk but am almost certain that this product is still available via their shops.

HTH.

Repo - love the signature. Not sure about illiterates, but we dyslexics are in heaven :giggle:

The Humax 9200T is a fantastic piece of kit, best gadget I've bought in a while.
