Looks like it is probably in-store only.

Their website price is £199.99

You need to edit the title, it says £199.

Excellent price, paid £185. One of the if not the best PVR on the market (maybe the Topfield is equal/better, however this is at least £50 cheaper),

The company update the box a couple times a year (software update over the air transmission) with addition functionality and have a forum set up by users which contains all the information you need and help when/if you need it.

Voted Hot

There is a newer edition out (the PVR9200TB) in black but as far as functionality the old boxes will be updated shortly I believe to match the new functionality of the newer machine which has had its looks slighty updated (well it's colour anyway).

Looks like it is £170 at Play however the model number is not shown, I was just confirm this with them before purchasing.

Tempting, but like others with a HDTV, waiting for 250gb/300gb versions, for hdmi out and for compatability with the new frequency range which will carry Skys MPEG4/Hidef channels

Whoops edited price now, the black one is on the shelf next to it for £200.

I wasnt aware there was any difference between the two apart from the colour and the black one being branded "Freeview Playback" or something like that?

Just to clarify 'Chester Tay', are you saying that your local branch is actually selling these in-store for £149.99 as that price is still showing in your first post?

If so, are they marked as a 'Special Offer', or anything like that?

Original Poster

Main City centre branch, not marked as special offer, just plain old price underneath it.

I would get one, But there's a new Topfield with a massive hard drive coming out before Christmas, so I'll save for that. Good price all the same.

And that will be more like £300. So if anyone wants a good Freeview PVR, and don't want to pay £300, then this is one of the better ones....

This is a Freeview box, so you won't be getting any Sky HD channels. I think Freeview HD is years away yet. ;-) There is supposed to be a new Humax version out next year with HDMI. Hopefully it will have an RJ45 connection too!

yes, agreed - there's no point waiting for freeview HD - cutover complete 2012. i'm not waiting 5 years for a hard-disk recorder!!!

another person here with great experience of the humax, btw!

Think you'll be waiting a while. It might be better getting true FeeSat next year as I'm sure PVR devices will be out quicker for that.
