We have the non YouView 1TB box and we use a cheap Edimax wifi dongle, these don't have Wifi built in.

No wifi but works great over homeplugs, the android remote recording app is up and running has been for about a year, works really well. The box is very good with the only negative being that if you do not put it into full standy then the hard disc is continually running, if you do put it into full stanby then you have a 3 minute wait for it to start up.

Does anyone know if this would work with talk talk as my talk talk box is so slow

Mine does indeed work with TalkTalk.
I'm not sure I'd recommend the box though.
- Very slow.
- Poor remote (click button press).
- Limited IR range.
- Vibration comes form the internal disk.

slow in what way? going through the EPG? menus etc

Whilst I'm not great about my own Youview box, this is an absolute bargain!

I too have an Edimax wifi adapter also picked up off ebay for less than a £10 for a Humax box.
BT Sport though might prefer home plugs though

Well we have the non YouView branded box ours is fine, not particularly slow or anything like that.

i have the bt version of this and its not the fastest box but its on par with the sky hd box in speed of menus and guides. This one beats the sky box as in if Formula 1 changes chanel (like it did) this will change the chanel and still record automatically.

skykid3

you tried switching off Eco mode?

Yea tried that

rich345

Yea tried that

Ours is very slow to get going when you turn it on. I checked the eco mode thing and ours is off so I hate to think how slow it would be if it was on Eco.

Bit the bullet - bought 2 (1 for my brother)

Why how much power does it use?

What a bargain this is. Use mine all the time, simply works . Menu's aren't speedily fast but they ain't painfully slow either. Buy a cheap pair of home plugs n you're laughing.

Absolute steal at this sort of money so ordered 2 more!

Sky+ boxes use a very similar amount but at least you can set these boxes to use a minimal amount of power in standby as long as you're happy to wait while the box boots back up from a cold start.

skykid3

Thanks, my old Sky box used to consume 30 watts in standby so this is fine. I have a humax freesat at the moment, is it worth going or one of these?

Says 69.99

Good spot.
I was looking at these as an upgrade to my old silver BTVision box that BT have heartlessly decided to pull the plug on.
I was put off by the reviews saying it is sluggish.

Deal expired.

still a good price at £69

Thanks for the info. Glad I rejected my BT freebiee DT1000 even though they confirmed on the phone I would be getting their latest model PVR.
I am now ditching the BT TV services for another box that doesn't "phone home", and they have lost another customer.

Recived both units today, must say they are absolute bargain....

I bought one to replace a much used and solid performing Humax 9150 - and agree with Hancock. I don't find it slow, set up a treat with the mymemory homeplugs (deal also on here) and for £60 we have catch up and on demand in the kitchen. I'd give the OP a big sloppy kiss if I could.
