Hit cold by accident, apologies for that.

It's not really off to a good start this Humble Monthly Bundle is it, it's 37 days until the next bundle is released.

I'm not so sure about it you know, great if you don't mind blind buying, but in fairness, the first couple of months have to be killer whilst they reel them in, and then BAM....crap, crap, crap

Yeah all going to depend on what games you are getting. Tempted to do it as i suspect the first few ones at least will be very good.
Ah! A monthly subscription! Just like someone (cough cough) suggested to do with Greenlight games a while ago: soulidstudio.com/why…re/

Interesting idea, a bit pricey imho, but let's see how many games are included

Well Legend of Grimrock 2 is currently £17.99 on Steam, so you're on to a winner to kick it off there, and then you still have the monthly (and a quater :D) bundle on top, so for £8, I don't really see a massive risk.

The problem is that game has already been 75% off, doing this subscription effectively means you can not partake in steam sales anymore as you know what will be coming....

I predict rocket league is in first month

Ah yeah, totally agree, I did have a quick look and noticed it at £5.99 (from Humble themselves), but its like anything else, here and now, if you don't own it and are even remotely interested in it then now seems like a good time. The only negative issue I can see from this is the total lack of information around the actual bundles...Bundle value, Bundle size?
Oh humble why change a winning formula. Hopefully the weekly bundles and humble bundles continue to be released as well

I'm intrigued. I already have LOG2. Its a crap shoot as to how much gameage you are getting for your 8 quid.

So many questions.

How many games in the bundle.
Indie games or AAA games?
What publishers?
Individual keys?
Gifts for dupes?

Etc..

I'm so on the fence at the mo, but don't want to miss out on a good deal.

Today's weekly bundle has been sacrificed! FOR THIS!!!
You can't pay by Paypal. I was going to give it a go for a few months to see what it was like but without Paypal, I won't bother.
Interesting to see. They'd likely help to boost interest if they could give an example of what's likely to be included, though I suppose as a guess that something along the line of a typical 'complete' bundle (i.e., tiers 1-3) is probably reasonable to expect.

Hmm, guess whether this is hot or not depends on what games you get each month! As people have said, Legend of Grimrock 2 for $12 isn't a great deal on its own, and who knows what else will be in the first month? I'm sure it will be great value - their bundles always are - but as long as they give separate tradeable keys for all games I'll be happy!
So the first bundle is not until November 6th? and LoG2 is just to entice people to sign up.
Personally I'm not a fan of buying stuff in blind hope I get something decent. Could be good if you only have a small collection of games.
Personally I'll stay clear as I, like many others, have 700/800 games and often see duplicates in these bundles.

As u can't opt out as you'd do on a weekly bundle if u have duplicates, what happens to duplicates? A key u can pass on I'd imagine. Steam gift copy would be good.
Sorry, can't bring myself to vote hot for this one, not with the incredibly limited amount of info available so far. These games are going to have to be pretty enticing to make a regular subscription worthwhile at close to £100 a year.
Yup. I think its a general consensus around the tubes that if you have a well established steam library its a bit of of pig in a poke. Also I'm a bit of picky chap when it comes to some games. Loads of games that have had decent reviews don't chime with me, yet other games do. If they pick a load of Dear Esther, Gone Home type **** I'd be well miffed.
If they stop or scale dowm the regular bundles
....theres still Bundlestars to look forward to
Cant help but feel that this move results in…RIP Good standard fortnightly humble bundles

Time will tell. Im not all that keen on a subscription method as Im particular about what I add to my steam library so most likely stick to the normal ones unless they do start sucking as a result.
Seems like they are trying to bring a PS+/GWG like model to the PC, which in itself is perfectly fine since the PC has no equivalent of that, though one could argue the lower price of PC games anyway mean less need for such a thing. Yes, I know these games are not subscription bound and you keep them with this but it's hard not to see the connection.

I think humble have been moving in this direction for a while, you may notice recent bundle seem to have been using fixed price tiers more than the regular average price. I suspect the bundles just aren't pulling in as much as they used to, perhaps because there are so many bundle sites around now and the market is getting saturated, so they need a way to boost revenue.

I have had many great deals from Humble Bundle and I hope this works out for them though I am a bit concerned the price may be a little high to start with. I think starting low like £4.99/£5.99 and then maybe a small raise when the service has an established customer base would have been a smarter move.

SteamPlay means many games may be Mac and PC compatible; Legend of Gridlock II is. Potentially making each months bundle a great deal.
I might try the first month (considering LOG 2 is free with it) and see if its worth continuing after that. It will be interesting to see if they are games which have already been in bundles or not. If they could guarantee that the games have not been in bundles before then I would definitely go for it.

Well, they're promoting this with:

Play: Discover games that haven't been featured in other bundles.

So I think you'd be justified in complaining if you got much in the way of repeats.
I'd like it if they did what LootCrate does and give you a theme for the next months bundle.
It can be as vague as they want, something like 'Titans' and come with one AAA game, Titanfall, one middle tier game, Titan Quest and one indie/mini game, Revenge of the Titans. (Obviously they don't all have to have 'Titan' in the name, it was just easiest to search for)
Only 5% goes to charity? Not exactly humble is it.

What an absolute travesty.
Only 5% goes to charity(about 63p - which is what the normal bundle minimum price was around when they first started). I haven't bought anything off them for ages.

I used to buy stuff I kinda knew I'd never play but knew that the money was well spent charity wise.

I wonder if their logic is that most people spent that so therefore then only give that amount to charity now... I also wonder if this price is the average people spend on bundles not taking into consideration there's a lot of people that buy bundles just to donate hundred for charity.

I think people can be vocal and picky about the price now as the charity percentage is so low.
I'm going to give it a go this month, if it's junk I won't resub for the next.

I think seeing as these games are going to be ones not in bundles the devs get more money, so humble can get better games. Most people buy $1 tier and even 100% of that going to charity is still 65p. So devs win and charities hardly miss out.

Does this mean we can post the games each month as free like PS+/GwG ?

As it's not really about giving money to charity now therefore I could logically just use this money and buy 1-3 decent games a month that I would actually play.

'games are going to be ones not in bundles' - doesn't rule out more stinkers as fillers or ones they have 'on sale' all the time in their store.

That's true. We can only find out when they start the bundles what they are actually giving with it.

Forgot about that
I've barely even played any of the games I've gotten from humble bundles. Considering the size of a lot of peoples steam libraries, it's a big risk subscribing to this

I do hope, for the sake of those people who decide to subscribe, that they don't style themselves to closely along the lines of Loot Crate and the like, given the 'quality' of what I've seen people getting from those!

You made me look at loot crate and now want this months. Based around time with Back To The Future, Bill & Ted and Doctor Who. Not going to get it and see if I missed out

I expect that you'll be grateful that you didn't when you see what's actually in it!
They should do something like "if you subscribe but the bundle's ****, full of games you already have or you just don't like the selection, we'll have a button on the site where you can say 'no thanks' so there's no risk"

I like strategy games (without rts) and slash games....so paying monthly to humble bundle how many months do i have to wait for any of them? Probably i will get that game much cheaper from one of 100s websites around the world offer up to 90% off. I have xbox gold acc so i get 4 games for free a month for less than 2£/month. Games worth much more than 30 pounds combined. No comparison between pay monthly xbox gold to "humble bundle blind game lottery"..... Humble bundle storage wars not for me
Interesting idea... I can imagine the first 2-3 months will be incredibly worth it, mostly just to get word of mouth out and get people signed up, I'd personally go for the first month and continue it until you hit a bundle in which you're like "Uhm, no thanks." and you unsubscribe.
