wow.. cheap

Original Poster

not when you buy 24 LOL cheaper than itunes almost for just 1 song

Some of them eg Bewitched and Pop Idol must have been sitting in a warehouse for years and years.
Heat though as some good ones there.

Great deal....................... other than Steps.

You do realise that the majority of the stock they sell are pre-owned cds and dvds, they have a store at the xscape at junction 32.

You can see written on the cd's "replay" meaning they are pre-owned.

Just thought that it should be mentioned is all:)

It is still a good deal, i would like quite a few of those cd's.

Cant see that many of the same CD being used...Think they are just advertising the replay service at every opportunity it seems..

Some good, some bad, and at 99p there seem to be some bargains if its your thing. Havent got one of these shops near me, and I'm not near York

I am just saying what the sign said in the store.

Maybe it is old stock that music shops couldn't shift and they have to sell it as pre-owned as it isn't sealed.

So to all intents and purposes is new but they can't legally say that.

And most of the cds and games in the shop that were new had stickers on saying that they were new.

I don't think these are pre-owned. More likely the excess stock of retailers that have gone under (Musiczone, Zavvi) so in that respect they are "old" stock and some might be over 10 years old by the look of some of the album titles. They probably have curling corners, dusty covers, maybe even some humidity damage to the booklets BUT at this price who could complain. If the discs are "new" that's all that matters.

Is it just one store in the country ?

There's one at Chesire Oaks aswell.

Was in there the other week. They also had a 3 for £5 mix & match on cds & dvds.

There was some alright stuff in there at cheap prices. I bougt an Alicia Keys cd for £1.99!

Lol, "chart"? Which year did you take those photos?

Good spot.

this a chart form 2001?

This looks remarkebly like ex- Music Zone stock from 2 or 3 years ago... they even have Music Zone style promo stickers on them!

The vast majority of these titles will have got to number 1 in the charts....indeed I can spot a few mutimillion sellers just from the photos.

Artists would love to be able to shift a few million copies of their albums these days. It still happens of course, but is the exception rather than the rule.

And whilst these are now in a "bargain bin" that is more to do with how people buy their music these days.

Some great titles mixed in with the toss - KT tunstall, Gwen stefani, No doubt all classic CDS worth 99p of anyones money - shame no stores near me.

Where are these 'Thats Entertainment' stores? I know York and Chesire Oaks have been mentioned... I can't find a website...

I Live in York but unfortunately wil pass on this one.

Remember, No Likey, No Lighty.

Great price, shame there's no store round here!

wow, david gray's white ladder and embrace's out of nothing are classics. heat

PLEASE READ
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
That's Entertainment is owned by the same company as Music Magpie - the website which will buy your unwanted CDs from you. It says this on your receipt when you buy something. Therefore I would say it is safe to presume that the majority of the stock is second hand, although some may have come from other stores which went into administration.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

They seem to be opening at a few of the clearance outlets (Macarthur Glen, Junction 32 etc). The stock seems to be in good enough condition, and the discs are in the cases so you can check them before you pay. Hot hot deal.

It either second hand thats been recased and the CD polished (if neeeded) or ex E-UK stock which they label as "Replay" also.

Recased and polished in order to charge 99p? Where would the profit come from? As a previous poster said, these are obviously ex Music Zone stock items as they still have their price stickers on!

When MZ went bust there was an AWFUL lot of stock still in their stores.

Have a look in the shop, you will see that the cases are not all the same. They buy them for 50p each. They use the stickers on all the new releases too but yes most of it is ex E-UK stuff, even the till is an E-UK one lol.

Still don't think these are 2nd hand - although can't visit either store so cannot confirm.

Defo think it is excess stock - MusicZone is the first suspect; remember reading they had sold their inventory (stock) for a knockdown price which included books.

Zavvi closed still owning a lot of stock in the shops/warehouses.

Woolworths got rid of in store stock but might have had piles in a warehouse.

Some people would only want to "rip" these to an MP3 player and then possibly donate to a charity shop (I would). You could save a few bob doing that instead of the itunes route and then generate a few bob for a charity :-D

As I posted above they are the same company as Music Magpie. Music Magpie have been buying CDs, is it now a coincedence they are selling them? It may even be that some of the stock (and possibly rolls and rolls of stickers from MusicZone which were printed when they went bust) is from other sources too but these are definitely not new. I bought a few discs and they were in "played but still very good" condition.
