Hunters used to be excellent and long lasting but they are now made in China (bought out by the Chinese I think) and a mere shadow of the boots which used to bear that once respected brand name. Best avoided even at a fraction of this price though I guess the brand snobs will still buy in the hope they look like they have a few horses on their country estate.

I've had better experience with some newer Barbour wellies (similarly fashionable brand and silly price) but that was a few years back so maybe they've gone downhill since?

I learned from hoses on classic cars that the Chinese can't or won't do decent rubber products. Their tyres are pretty awful too.

To the quality comments, it’s a different league in price but if you really do want good wellies it surely has to be Le Chameau?

Yes, I have looked at Barbour branded wellies which are sometimes sold in Schuh, often in the sales, and are really well priced during sale times. They look much nicer too, IMO, I cringe now when I see how people rock up to the school gates in their Hunter wellies 🥱

Do yourself a favour and DON’T buy Hunters. The quality now is awful. I had two pairs, both started to leak within 12 months and the customer service was non existent
