Yeah I know its chinese stuff, cheap and low quality from gearbest, delivery takes 15 days, blah blah blah.... But I am interested to try that (just for normal use, not for gaming), so ordered.

Edit: Minimum delivery charges start from 18p

Actually bought this a while back and using right now. Quite decent and works quite well for what you pay for it and hopefully, it would last long too

It being slow to arrive is irrelevant if your not in a rush for the item, customs can not and will not be applied to this product.

I bought almost 20 to 25 times from gearbest and never paid extra charges or faced any issues.

The important bit here is you made a blanket statement on custom charges, i specifically stated they wouldn't apply to this item and you said i was talking tripe. The limit for when custom charges apply is way more than this, if they do apply them you can appeal, unless i am mistaken.
If you are even slightly competitive when gaming then you’d be stupid to order a wireless optical mouse as a gaming mouse.

Yea stop spending your money on Chinese snail mail stuff but instead spend it on Chinese snail mail stuff that's been pre imported by someone else who is charging commission to send you the same item faster, unless ofc you mean avoid buying anything from China in which case you better avoid buying almost everything including high end mouse and keyboards.
If you don't like the deal just vote cold and move on and save the rest of us from having to read through nonsense like that to find a useful comment.

Customs will charge what they think is the market value if they think its undervalued regardless of the stated value or if its a gift. That said I've had items grossly overvalued and charged for that should not have been, it happens from time to time

You can appeal and you should get the duty back if you can send them the invoice, but you won't get the £8 back the post office fees and charges the Royal Mail apply.
Ah, I had to order via the app to get it for £2.15. Delivery is actually 17p, not 18p as the op states.

You only pay on actual cost, not what hmrc think you should have paid. That's just ridiculous. So if you do get hit for vat + handling fee (electronic devices are exempt from import duty - I wonder if that'll stay after brexit) and you can prove you paid an amount lower than the threshold, you can claim your money back.

You do pay on actual cost, but from experience if HMRC believe the parcel has been deliberately under valued by the seller they will value it at what they determine, usually at the top end of the market.

It happens when the sellers try and evade vat by vastly undervaluing an item but while it’s not likely on a mouse if they were to open it (again unlikely) it looks like it cost more than £2-50.

The annoying thing is you as the recipient did nothing wrong but your still the one paying the dues and while Yes if you send customs the invoice they will refund you the £8 post office charge will not be refunded.

It's a valid question. The marketing material and description probably predates windows 10's release. There's little reason why a generic mouse should stop working after upgrading from Windows 8

I'll be surprised if it didn't work with win10. Incidentally, after ordering I find this
