Sorry but its cold from me. I have owned a couple of these over the years and they always seem to let me down at the worst time. Better spending a few extra pennies and getting a decent one.

Is there such a thing as the "best time" for a jack to fail. Surely if one of these had let you down at the "worst time" you would not be on here complaining about it, you would be neatly bisected.

It meets the safety regs, have a 3 year warranty and is well priced. Furthermore you should never rely on a jack alone - no matter how much you talk yourself into one being better than another, stick a pair of jack stands under it or in a pinch a couple of wheels!

I had this jack from Lidl. Make sure you place it on flat solid ground. I was using mine and the road surface wasn't very good, soft tarmac, on one side the wheels sunk in and the jack twisted the black metal side strips either side of the lifting ram. Probably on a stronger, better made jack this would not have twisted and ruined the jack. I got a better jack from Halfords when the deal on here came up a moth or so ago and it only cost £25. Different league, strongly made.

Using a jack incorrectly and then breaking it does not make the jack bad.

Agree, unfortunately when you breakdown at the side of the road you cant always guarantee the jacking surface, hence my warning to make sure its on a solid surface. However if the jack was more substantial in construction it would not have twisted. The Halfords jack that I've replaced it with has steel side ram strips which are twice the thickness. You get what you pay for.

Block of wood with the jack, problem solved

lol hope was not literally at the worst time, as in you under a car, always got paranoid using these so have to use axel stands after the jack up, but many have used them on their own !

I would also say to go for something a bit better. Have had bad experiences with jacks like this.

I was hoping for a few more uplifting comments....oO

I've had one of these... from LIDL for over 10 years, it's still going strong... I think it was something like £12 back then.

My only grumble is that the plate area is quite small, so it's concentrating alot of weight into a small area (this can cause even strong plate metal buckle). The pump mechanism would be nicer if you didn't have to raise the bar quite so high.

The jack may have been improved since of course.

Have the ones slagging this off actually had a Lidl jack,Iv'e always found Lidl tools are very good quality,As Tyranicus66 said

It doesn't seem to say what weight it can lift?
