Effectively, this game is a JRPG based on the gaming industry / console wars. In the world of Gamindustri there are four regions - Planeptune (Sega Neptune), Lowee (Wii), Lastation (PS3), and Leanbox (360) - each protected by a CPU goddess - Neptune/Purple Heart, Blanc/White Heart, Noire/Black Heart and Vert/Green Heart.

The other 3 goddesses decide to gang up on Neptune and defeat her, causing her to lose her memory. The game involves trying to restore her memory and save Gamindustri from the evil Arfoire (named after the R4 flashcard).

ReBirth is a significantly improved version of the PS3 game - the Vita version has a metacritic rating of 72.

This isn't a new addition to the sale, but I thought I'd give a heads up for anyone interested as it doesn't seem to have been posted. I don't expect much heat as this is very niche!

The game is PSN-only in Europe, and was only released in August - usual price £32.99.

The Producing Perfection spin-off is also £14.99 (£13.49 with PS+), but this was cheaper previously and retail copies sell for about the same price.

----------------------------------------

Gamindustri: One of many parallel universes protected by four goddesses known as CPUs. Long ago, these four CPUs engaged in a war for supremacy known as the War of the Guardians. However, this war weakened their protective hold on the world inhabited by their people, and in turn it was flooded by monsters under the influence of an individual known as Arfoire.

During the War of the Guardians, one of the CPUs—Neptune—was defeated by the others and hurled down to the world’s surface from the heavens. The drop caused Neptune to lose her memories, as learned by Compa and IF, who happen upon the fallen girl. A mysterious book containing knowledge of all Gamindustri’s history suddenly speaks out to Neptune, Compa, and IF. With the assistance of this sentient book, the trio embark on an extraordinary journey across four different nations on a quest to save the entire world!

Heat added.
Hopefully a few people might check this out, but you're right, it is a pretty niche game, even among rpg fans.
I'd recommend it, definitely a massive improvement over the original. The 2nd one is out early next month too.

I think it's a decent price for people to give it a try and see if they like it, but obviously, it's not for everyone.

As well as Rebirth 2, Hyperdevotion Noire: Goddess Black Heart is also out in February and Hyperdimension Neptunia U is out not long after... and then I imagine we'll see Rebirth 3 later this year - I can't help but think they could have spaced these out a bit better!

I've never heard of a Sega Neptune is this supposed to be some hypothetical successor to the dreamcast based off the Sega Saturn?

Seems like an interesting little game though. Have some heat

The Sega Neptune was a planned console that combined the mega drive and the 32x into a single unit.

It wasn't released, which explains why you haven't heard of it!

So many rpg's I want for the vita but I can't decide between this conception 2 or mind zero?

Well, I'd recommend avoiding conception 2.

As for this or mind zero, it's hard to recommend without knowing what you prefer - this has better reviews but mind zero is more like you might expect from a jrpg.

I generally prefer wrpg (I will get that out the way now) but I am starting to play more jrpg's and I do like persona 4 and Final Fantasy XIII if that helps?

If you're new to JRPGs I'd probably recommend some other games before Hyperdimension Neptunia to be honest. You can think of Mind Zero as kinda like a poorer rip-off of Persona 4.

If you've yet to play them, I'd recommend Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD, Ys: Memories of Celceta and Disgaea 4 first.

Thanks I have FFX/X2 and Ys just haven't had chance to play them yet!
