Because the Alpha essentially took what made the original Hyper X Cloud Pro etc great, and improve on top of it with the dual-chamber design, making the separation between the lows and the mids/highes even clearer. So when explosions and rumbling sound effects are going off, you can still clearly hear the mids and highs such as gunshots and footsteps to an extend, rather than getting drowned out.

I mean I have more expensive headphones such as the Beyerdynamic DT770, Sony MDR-1A(BT), Philips Fidelio X1, Sony MDR-MA900, Sennheiser HD700, and although they certainlly sound better than the Hyper X Alpha for music without a doubt, however strictly for gaming...the Alpha has this certain satisfaction feeling and comparing to the headphones I mentioned above, it is like having a tasty snack as oppose to like a delicious meal at a restaurant...if that make any sense.

It's worth keeping in mind that the Alpha is only £60 now, and the headphones I mentioned above all are like double or even 4-5 times its price. Even for audiophile, I think it would be very difficult to find another headphone/headset at this price that can better the Alpha.

Arguably the best gaming headphones in terms of sound quality. If you want to hear footsteps then this is the headphone to buy.

This paired with dolby atmos is insane. Do yourselves a favour people!

Cannot believe I fell for their black Friday sale price and paid £69.99. What the actual F? It dropped £10 a week later. Tried ringing for a price match refund, waiting 20 minutes to get through and gave up. Probably cost me the difference in phone bills!

I can confirm however that these are insanely good. Miles better than my turtle beach XO Four stealth set!

Yea I also bought it at £69.99. I not bother try ringing their money-making 0844 number, but sent an email to customer service requesting for £10 refund (even if it is just store credit). Not gotten a response yet, but wouldn't hold my breath...however this headset is so good, that it easier worth even the normal RRP.

It's not as good as my Sony MDR-1ABT (in wired mode), but I would say it is about 80~85% there...so for £60 it is definitely a steal, and I doubt any headphone or headset would come close at this price.

Weren't these just released a couple of months ago? I really don't need another headset but sooo tempted.

Hi I am looking for a new headset .......why are these better then the other Hyper cloud headsets I.E pro etc ?

arrrgggghhhhh................i love and hate HUKD at the same time

Need a headset for my new Xbox One X and i can get 10% cashback with Barclays which makes this an even more unmissable purchase.

Add in the rave reviews that the Dolby Atmos plugin is having and its a no brainer

Heat added and b****y ordered.

Edit :Cashback tracked straight away this time, nice.

Amazing headphones - Awful retailer

I too have the Cloud II which I have had for a while and until the Alphas came along were regarded as the best gaming headset out there that could also do music. These have just come out so are a great price, especially considering the rave reviews they have been getting. The only think missing from these and the Cloud IIs are the slightly worse packaging (not important) worse carrying bag (not important) and no USB surround sound card (not important as I already have one). Sooo tempted - anyone made the move?

IMO I don't think it would be worthwhile to go from Cloud II to Alpha, as while the Alpha would definitely be better, but it is not exactly leaps and bounds above the Cloud II (as the Cloud is already a very good performer for the price to begin with). I would only realistically suggest you to get this, is probably to have the extra pair to leave at work or another place for example.

Thanks for the detailed information, I have just bought these. thanks to the OP also, I paid for the £12 insurance to just in case these get sat on like my last headset oops .........

Are these only really for PC, I think I saw they connect by the 3.5mm for PS4 so I doubt the sound quality would match on PC?

This one doesn't have the USB soundcard with virtual 7.1 like the Cloud II does, so it's connected via the 3.5mm cable, much like any other stereo headphones. The 3.5mm cable is a single short cable that can do signal for both the headphone and the mic, and there's a 2nd part that act as an extension to that cable, which would split the cable into two parts with the separate 3.5mm for the headphone part, and another 3.5mm for the mic part.

Ah ok cheers. Looks good I shall take the plunge.

I have to say I bought these today, and WOW I'm happy with the purchase. I got them from the wife as a early xmas present for my Ps4 and Battlefield 1 sounds Amazballs ! PTFO Soldiers !

Am just trying to understand compatability, are the good for gaming and watching movies on Xbox one and PS4?

Thank you Gerard for posting, ordered and looking forward to using with my Christmas entertainmrent of a first play through of Fallout 4 GOTY.

Nice one, was considering these for a while. They are £112 on Amazon just now.

Good headset though.

As there have been a few more questions about it, these will work with anything that uses a 3.5mm jack, from a PC to console to a Walkman - if you still use such a thing! The microphone is detachable too (as well as the cable) so you can wear them out and about without looking too odd.

Currys do the 3 years replacement plan for £12. Normally, I wouldn't bother with addons, but I go through headphones so quickly, any one know if it's worth it?

Is it worth spending £5 extra for the HyperX Cloud II? Only major difference I can see is the addition of 7.1 which seems to have mixed responses.

I liked the could 2 for sound quality and noise reduction, but the lack of sidetone (mic monitoring) was something that made me return them. I'm guessing these are the same.

Walkman.
Will they work with my 8 track player?

I really like the look of these. I too have the Cloud 2, however I have never been a fan of 3.5mm headphones, I tend to get some feedback/buzzing from my PC when using a headphone port and it bugs the hell out of me

Bought these unknown that the 7.1 cannot be used on xbox one x anyone know a workaround ? No stupid comments thanks

Either use Windows Sonic which does virtual surround sound and is built into the xbox settings.
Just go to setting and then Audio out and you will see it in the selections.
You can also upgrade to Dolby Atmos if you want which will cost but is another option and a better option if your game or movie supports its. I know Assassins Creed Origins and Netflix have support for it.

In this price range, I'd agree, but there are definitely better ones out for, for a premium of course.

Are you saying even though the adapter is pc only i can still use the 7.1 surround jack that comes with it if i put dolby atmos on my xbox one x

1st world problem here guys!
I would likes but I have the following issues:

Currently for gaming on my One X I use Turtle beach wireless PX5 that I've had for awhile now and still going strong.
But i know the wife has bought me the Official Xbox Stereo headset to use as a secondary set up for when the batteries have died on my PX5 or if they break for Christmas as a present.

is it still worth getting these from what I've read on reviews are amazing and I imagine are better upgrade over my PX5 and my soon to have official XBOX stereo headphones?

I feel like I am just being spoilt and should stay with what I got?!
