It's a decent headset, but the sound card might need the 0005 firmware update to be applied if you experience audio popping/crackling. Google the problem and you'll find a link to the firmware.

Didn't bother with the USB sound card with this, the max volume is too low for me.

Upgrade the firmware because I own these and the sound card is far from quiet. It's so loud that if you left it at 100% all of the time you'd definitely damage your hearing.

I'll try that firmware. Last time i used the soundcard was when it first came out.
Excellent quality headset but I had to send it back as I was using it with the PS4. Audio controls are on the USB sound card which is NOT used with the PS4 so you don't have any inline audio controls (plugs directly into the PS4 controller), and there are no controls on the headset itself eg no mute. Really inconvenient having to go into the system menu to adjust volumes especially in party chat.
awesome headset. would recommend
Got this Black Friday, awesome headset. No faffing with batteries, plug and play into PS4 controller. Microphone easily detachable for a decent pair of headphones too!
Good quality but I've manage to get it for 40 pounds so this is not a best deal
yep, got to agree quality sound on pc (very loud) and great build quality. I paid £64 a while back.
Bad headset, the 2's are way worse than the 1's which were at best average.

How are they worse? I had the original versions, but I gave them to a family member after getting the 2's as they're better IMO. They're more comfy, slightly lighter and the sound card means that they'll work on any PC. The originals wouldn't be as loud as they should be if your sound card couldn't output enough power for the 53mm drivers.

Pretty sure one of the last PS4 firmwares allow you to use the USB sound card lead so you plug it into the PS3 rather than the controller

Want one of these but waiting for £40

How do these compare to turtle beach in general? Been years since I had a headset, think it was the X40's!!

Any chance you could post a link to the firmware please? It's not listed on their website and having done a search I can't find a download for it

Thanks

This is what Kingston link to when you contact them via email.

0003 = Has hissing/crackling
0004 = Fixed the hissing/crackling, but lowered the maximum volume level
0005 = Fixed everything

Just follow the instructions in the PDF and it should hopefully fix things for you.

Do you have a link to the previous deal at £40?
ordered these last time when they were £40 and they are worth it! Really good headset and by far the most comfy I've worn, you don't get paining ears and the two types of ear cups are very nice. The surround sound is good for games too, feels a bit cheat in some games as you can tell where they are coming from. It is loud to me too but never updated the firmware so might see if that helps.
Have the gunmetal version and sound quality is extremely good for the price. Works over usb with ps4 also and I was able to enable the 7.1 button after a bit of messing about. When you plug it in, the 7.1 button doesn't work. Enter rest mode and then turn it back on and it enables.

Would definitely recommend though.

Nice one, thanks. I'm using Win 10 and had to run it with XP compatibility settings to get it to run, but it updated from 003 to 0005.

For anyone thinking about this headset it is an absolute bargain at this price. Premium sound quality and build materials, worth a lot more than the price.
Bought one for my son
Damn, wish I spotted this
