I can't comment on these but I have the Hyper X Cloud and they are excellent. Have had them for years. I got them for about 30 quid through Flubit and Amazon and they haven't missed a beat. Very comfortable. I prefer the foam/fabric ear cushions. These are great, over ear headphones. Very comfy for long periods.

Kingston are also excellent at resolving any issues you may have. I broke the mic and they sent me out a new one FOC. I also lost the little controller thing when moving house and again, they shipped me out a replacement right away.

That's good to know, although hopefully I won't need to use their customer service
Why would you need an external sound card??

Your onboard Soundcard could stop working, or the sound from it is not that great, or the drivers are dodgy, or it's just convenient.
Got these a few months back. Great headset for the money, very comfy over long periods and the sound quality is noticeably better than my previous headsets. The microphone however is sadly not the best for any kind of recording. I use an external dac to improve it somewhat but it's a bit of a bandage solution. Totally fine for gaming voice chat though!

I think the off-board USB DAC is the 7.1 surround sound for the PC

Price has now gone up slightly to £52.66 and is now cheaper at £49.99 at Currys so I will expire this thread
I'm tempted by these, but I'm a bit put off by having to pay for 7.1 surround sound that I can't use (I don't have a PC, only Xbone and PS4).

Are they still worth the money for console use only? It seems the noise cancellation etc on the mic only works when the USB box is plugged in, which it wouldn't be on console so that's another thing that puts me off

Are your using these on console or pc? I like the look of them but am not overly enamoured at paying for features I can't use having not joined the PC Master Race X)

I'll be using them on console but I am thinking about getting a PC and you can use them with both options so future proof

I know they will work, they just seem a bit bog standard on console with half the features disabled. Not sure whether they're worth £50 or not. I'd like them to be!

Well, they seem to do well in the reviews I've previously read and as they are normally £75 and can be used on multiple devices, it seemed like a good deal to me but you can get even cheaper headsets if you're not fussed

I'm using these on PC. I don't use the virtual 7.1 though, imo virtual surround in general is a bit naff. Still have zero problem locating sounds positionally. It's a great headset for the money in terms of comfort and general audio quality.
