Can anyone recommend a decent battery chainsaw, something in the £150 region max?
I'd like to be able to cut logs up to 10" - 12" thick.

I had a 36 volt Makita. Worked really well. Only sold it as I no longer have trees!

Previous experience of Hyundai stuff such as lawnmowers is that they're build of toast!

Picked up a ex-display Hyundai branded 62cc from their ebay shop for around £107 a few weeks ago. Very impressed, even at twice the price tbh.

Compared to the 40v Aldi Ferex and mains powered Ryobi I also have it is like night and day.

Unless you only want cut light/small stuff petrol
is the only way to go. The chain speed makes a huge amount of difference. (edited)

The opposite for me - much prefer electric.
Actually got the 40v Aldi one and it seems decent enough for it's light weight (and price!)... also got a Dewalt Flexvolt, for chunkier stuff. Yes, the battery does die fairly quickly, but I'm not doing that much - and if I was I'd have spare batteries.

£100 for a new branded petrol chainsaw, delivered, is pretty good. If I didn't already have 2 Stihls, i'd definitely be buying one.

I can confirm this cuts bread and butter nicely

Great stuff, thanks op and dirt (for the Quidco pointer), been after a petrol chainsaw since my trusty now has a compression issue meaning the pull start won't pull smoothly. I've taken spark plug out and pulls easily so probably needs head realignment, which would cost me more than it's worth.
