Can't tell you how many pot holes I have had to avoid whilst cycling.

Maybe cyclists should contribute as well then?

Good price, bit of a con that the GOVERNMENT is blatantly ripping new car buyers off by scrapping the £0 road tax this would have qualified for as they were not making enough money from VED.

To be fair, they are making less and less on vehicle duty, the tax intake has to come from somewhere. They couldn't go on excluding an increasing number of cars.Full electric are still exempt.

Don't forget it could have gone instead to subsidising rail fares!

PS Heat added. Great price.

The Total amount of tax raised on road and fuel tax is not spend on road maintenance Looking at it historically over the last 20 years or so only about 20-30% of the tax income goes on roads.

I have the 2019 Premium SE and it's a great car.
Mine has the 17in alloys which do affect the MPG negatively (dealer error as I should have had 15in), so if you want the best fuel economy stick to the 15in wheels.

Really comfortable to drive, especially after 30 years of only driving manuals.

Fuel economy does plummet in winter, especially if you're only going short journeys, but that's something pretty much all hybrids suffer from.

I've never seen a pot hole on a cycle path, perhaps there's an option?

Maybe you've not seen them because they are normally covered by broken glass, pieces of car, bags of rubbish, collapsed drains, branches and parked cars.

I work in Cambridge and see largely unused, new cycling infrastructure everywhere, while main roads look like the surface of the moon.

Yes, and in proportion to the damage they do to the roads.
18months ago I was looking at the idea of buying a new small hybrid - Yaris from carwow/DTD as offer has 38months interest free payment. But when i checked the road tax, it was 130£. I decided to get a few years old one which was zero Tax instead.

I believe it changed April 2017. I got a 66 Fiesta and that's £0 road tax, the same car 7 months newer is £140pa I believe. It doesn't seem proportionate.

I've also looked at a Yaris hybrid, but they seem quite pricey. I've considered fully electric, but the low range concerns me. And I don't feel like I'd be saving any money. If I did more mileage, then I would, and also, the environment would suffer less, but it just doesn't seem worthwhile.
ShineHunter16/12/2019 11:39

You sir have zero taste

Nah, this car isn't pretty. It's clunky and plain. It's not Fiat Multipla levels of disgust, but it's looks aren't very refined.

Yes it was. I got a 16 plate bought at 2 years 2 months old with 28k miles. It was about 5.5-6k less than new price so I was quite satisfied.

Electric car is a big outlay. The infrastructure isn't quite there yet, range is not long enough. Many people who own an electric car have range aniexty. I don't have a driveway as well so defo no for me until things improve a lot more.

And for all the huge costs incurred in creating cycle paths/lanes, etc?

Probably actually a tiny cost relative to what is spent on motorway maintenance and lane widening - be interesting to see the numbers though.

Don't say that, we've enough cars with low self-esteem on the road. I'm sure some people out there would think yours as better looking than this.

Well one it is this car , but the electric version with the no grill lol. I like the look of having the a grill more.

Going to agree with you on that. I don't like the non-grill look... It's probably to marginally improve streamlining/reduce resistance.
